The Internet is a marvellous thing, but it does give a voice to uninformed bigots and nutcases. Check out this particular diatribe.

The conflation of the terms 'paedophile' and 'child molestor' aside, it tarnishes any good points it might have to make with such nonsense as:

A paedophile may be bi-sexual, or appear to be heterosexual. The heterosexual does not engage in paedophilia under any circumstances.

Paedophilia is exclusive among homosexuals, it is not merely more common among homosexuals. Heterosexuals do not engage in paedophilia or homosexuality under any circumstance.

Pedophiles are a convenient outlet for latent aggressions and insecurities as people (mainstream) tend not to see any difference between real bigtory against pedophiles (which I'm against) and actual will to protect children (which I'm for). This means people who are bigoted can disguise themselves as defenders of children and seem to have kids' welfare as their first priority while in reality they are zealots fueled by irrational fear and hatred toward all pedophiles.

People who genuinely want to protect children understand that harm preventation through helping and supporting pedophiles is many times more effective way to reduce child molestation than the segregation of a whole segment of human beings, many of whom have never hurt anyone nor ever will. I've read paragraphs upon paragraphs of anti-pedophiles' elaborate plans on how they would torture every pedophile to death whether they were young teens, firefighters, people trying to find cure for cancer, parents etc...

Fortunately... information and knowledge have their way to prevail (as we've already seen: abolishment of slavery, gave women rights, started tolerating homosexuals) and ignorance is bound to fail. In the future these intolerant bigots will be mocked for what they really are.

My question to you is this--why would you even give such an ignorant and hateful bigot the exposure?

God, thats wrong.... I feel its wrong to harm a child, yes, but their judgement and hatred doesn't help calm the stigma and allow us to get support.... which is really needed. Which they'ld just disappear...

The part that disturbs me the most about this document is that the writer believes the only "cures" for this kind of sexuality are lifelong imprisonment or death. I'm assuming both apply even if a minor attracted person hasn't committed any crimes.

Death or permanent imprisonment simply for how one feels... very mediaeval, isn't it? But - and without wanting to generalise - some of the more extreme religious folks in the US are still stuck in a mediaeval mindset.
