No, not really.
WayneS27 wrote:Just last night I read a post on this forum about a man who was molested by men as a child and now he's sexually submissive to men as an adult. Do you want me to believe that he was born gay? There are hundreds of thousands of stories like that from those who are abused, the abuse alters their sexuality and can turn someone who would have been heterosexual minus the abuse into homosexual due to the abuse. Not everyone is born gay, it isn't that simple.
Not a good example. He turned out to be submissive as an adult. He still could have been gay without being abused.
Wrong, he isn't submissive as an adult, he's submissive only to men because men molested him. He says he hates being that way and would much rather have sex with women. Is that not obvious to you that he wasn't born gay? Where does this need come from to think that being molested as a child has no impact on adult human sexuality?

I think some people are gay because they were exposed to sex with their own gender at a young age. Not the majority though. In some, sexuality is fluid, especially in women. With women,
I think if they fall in love with someone, they might feel sexual towards them... whether male or
female.

I don't even know what post you are talking about.
Sure, Its possible that being molested could affect someone's sexuality. I just don't think its the main cause in most cases.

This is the poster I'm talking about:
http://www.psychforums.com/sexual-disorder/topic148790.html Nothing about his post suggests that he was born gay, quite the opposite actually, the childhood trauma has led him to indulge in homosexual acts that in his mind he can't understand why he is doing these things.

I think paraphilias are rarely 100% genetic or 100% environmental. I tend to think that the specifics my own sexuality developed as a result of abuse during childhood. However, I also think that I was born with a genetic predisposition toward sensitivity and early sexual development, so even in an abuse-free environment I may have still been strongly inclined to develop an exclusive paraphilia rather than develop sexually like most of my peers.
