After being on different medications for her severe anxiety, depression and OCD thoughts of hurting herself (hitting her head) my daughter was put on 80mg of fluoxetine about a year ago. It's not working well anymore. She takes propronol at night to help her relax which really doesn't help and she can take 5 mg of xanax up to three times a day when needed which she normally takes at night. I don't know what to do anymore. Is there any medications that anyone here has taken along with the fluoxetine that helps with OCD thoughts? Has anyone taken anything that has helped their OCD better than fluoxetine? Her psychiatrist doesn't want to go higher than 80mg of fluoxetine just yet.......he feels that the quarentine for the corona virus may have a lot to do with her getting worse again but in the mean time I just can't stand seeing her so upset when the OCD thoughts start again. She ends up having a really bad anxiety attack each night so bad that I have to hold her arms down and just quietly try to calm her down which can take at least 15 minutes or more. Usually she snaps out of it afterwards and is OK for a while. Out of all her problems it seems to be the OCD which upsets her most and her anxiety has gotten better in general except for when her ICD thoughts take over. I'm at a lost of what to do. She's was also seeing a therapist for years but stopped last year after her therapist felt she had taken her as far as she could. I'm now looking for a therapist with with the quarentine, I'm having a hard time finding anyone and I'm really looking for someone who is good with treating OCD. I was told to try to find someone who uses DBT therapy. I'm just looking for advice especially from people who are having the same problems as she is.

There is a list of potential medications at the
International OCD Foundation.
There are articles about certain SSRI's losing their effectiveness over time, such as
here, so it may be worth exploring that with your daughter's psychiatrist and your daughter, of course. Might the psychiatrist be able to help you with a referral to a therapist or suggestions for how best to do a local search? Of course, if you find someone online and that works for everyone, the therapist wouldn't even have to be local.
You sound like a good dad, trying to help his daughter as much as possible. Hang in there and best to you both.

i would suggest getting of xanax first, she is taking big dose too frequent as it exacerbate the depression and thus ocd cycle, then talk to the her doctor about the possibility of changing her medication to an SNRI group like duloxetine 60mg or pristiq, becuase the max dose for fluoxetine is 80mg and it won't help the same way after a year, at least that's what i'm going to do

Luvox is really effective but at high doses. Most OCDRs next high doses for effective relief. Therapy should always be incorporated with meds in my honest opinion.
