Anyone who had TOCD and overcame it?

Postby Lisa1989 » Sat Dec 05, 2015 10:25 am

What are your experiences? When you overcame TOCD, were you actually trans?! I'm so scared of that. How much of a say do I get in this? If I don't want to be Trans? :( I'm scared I'll overcome anxiety and realize that I'm Trans.

I haven't fully overcame it yet but my situation has improved compared to 2 months ago. If I'm distracted or preoccupied with something I don't have the thoughts anymore, nor are they in my dreams, and when I listen to music the thoughts of being transgender aren't there. 2 months ago it was so bad I was scared to go to sleep, listen to any music, or look at any woman because I knew for sure I would get a transgender thought. Now this isn't the case and I'm extremely thankful for that but other than that my TOCD is still there and I'm still yearning for the day when its completely gone.

This definitely has the potential to trigger my anxiety, if no one would come front and say they've done it, lol.

But on the other hand, I'd imagine they wouldn't stick around PF if they did...

Well, if it's real OCD it won't go away on its own, so I would imagine that those whose theme just changed would respond. If they used to have Trans OCD and now, let's say pocd or something... They'd still be on here

But if they had pocd and THEN it switched to tocd, they'd be long gone :D

Well since you seem to love "complicated": let's assume they had pocd, then TOCD, and now self-harm OCD. They would still be on here. It's not about overcoming OCD, just a theme.

Actually it kind of is about overcoming OCD and not the themes. Because if you learn to tackle it as a whole even though it never will go away totally, it can change and or be completely remission/reduced to the point where it doesn't affect your life.

Yeah, I know, but I would just like to know if the ones whose theme changed felt "normal" again as far as this theme is concerned...

haaaa, so i thought i was doing better but i crumbled over the past few days, is there really anyone who has overcome this though? is this even a legit theme? I feel like i'm simply trans and would need to admit it and ~~~~explore~~~ the ######6 wonders of being the other sex and gender is a continuum bla bla bla how AWESOME it is and bla bla society is evil and you're just repressing it because you're afraid of what other people say and you can ofc just realize it when you're ######6 80 and you're still trans because everyone is trans and we're all trans and how marvelous it just all is. *cue kumbaya song*

I'm losing my mind, but genuinely now, is this a real condition? Every psychiatrist that writes about ocd themes writes about HOCD, POCD, Harm OCD. No one ever mentions TOCD. Is it even real? And has anyone overcome it?

I'm sorry if this posts offends anyone, not my intention. Just... I'm losing it.
