Can't even do basic things

I've been in hospital recently for pre-eclampsia, a pregnancy complication that can lead to some huge problems for baby and me.

I'm back at home now, and have to rest up a lot. I can't cook meals anymore, because even spending just 5 minutes standing makes my feet go numb. 10-15 minutes standing and I collapse. I can't do the clothes washing, partly because I don't have a machine (so I have to go to ...

So, I'm going back on an antidepressant...

Cymbalta, it's one of the few that I know I can tolerate.

I'm slightly buzzed, I'm not going to lie. So what if it's only 6:00 PM on a Monday. (name the reference)

Anyway, I had one of those week-long decision making processes, and came to the conclusion that I've got to do something -- in order to get where I want to be going I need a bit more life.

This time, though, I'm ...

Daydreaming and emotional self-injury?

I am a daydreamer-schizoid. I use my daydreams to think through situations in my life and to stimulate myself emotionally when I don’t feel anything towards the outside world. I often feel like I am closer with the people in my daydreams than with my family members. This is normal for SPD, right?

So, my questions is this: for years I have had compulsions towards daydreams that are emotionally disturbing. For example, even though, like ...

New alter, new questions.

It's been a while, and a lot of things have been going on. I'll do a quick recap just for everyone to catch up.
C:

- Demi's 21st birthday
- The addition of Lani
- Moved out of my mothers house
- Got engaged to my boyfriend
- Depression came back with the finding out that the love of my life has a child that he never told me about
- The realization that there ...

Guggenbühl-Craig on the Compensated Psychopath

I think it's time to bring this all the way out into the light.
Adolf Guggenbühl-Craig wrote:The Compensated Psychopath

from The Emptied Soul

Individuals approaching the psychopathic extreme are not totally wanting in morality, but they do sense a weakness, an awareness that something is missing, which frightens them. They also suspect that their love is not all it could or should be. In order to adapt they begin to compensate for these deficiencies by becoming ...

Oxytocin, yet another flash in the pan

Oxytocin is being trumped up as cureall for anything, including Autism. To me, as soon as there are claims about a product being beneficial for everything under the sun alarmbells go off. Evidently not so in the sheepfold of medical journalism.

But someone did wake up, finally , and started to question the holy grail:

Kemp and Guastella are right, that could mean that oxytocin could also increase anger and other negative approach-related emotions. That ...

Any psychologists/neuroscientists with AS?

I really didn't know how to get started here. I read a few threads and felt like replying. But, now that I have created my account, all I can really think to do is ask an odd question. Are there any psychologists or neuroscientists that happen to be out here that also have Aspergers? I ask because I'm in that boat. I'm new to thinking of myself as having Asperger's and fairly new to considering ...
