Winning it back

Hi everybody: I apologize if I have told this story before, but I thought it might help those of you who all too frequently lose your original stake, and begin to start chasing to "win it back".

I was thinking about what a friend said, who was along with me on a gambling session, where I had lost my stake that day, and I told him I was going to the ATM to get more ...

Amounts don't matter

I notice that most people on here like to talk about how much they lost while gambling. It worries me that some people see it almost as a "badge of honor" or something to brag about. It also serves as a reminder that can lead to a relapse.

Maybe we need to leave the past in the past and just admit that we have a problem. If we lost $50 that we couldn't afford because ...

My *failed* experiment

I decided to gamble, but with a predetermined amount. My problem is the weekend. Well, I was successful to start, if you call it that, in gambling the amount I brought and taking my winnings to gamble with the next time.

Of course this didn't work for long. I ended up staying and gamble the winnings. Well last weekend I went to the bank and took out more money. I was chasing losses. Soooo, I ...

By the Numbers: Facts About my Gambling Experience

History: I first gambled on April, 2013 when I asked my friend on a boring Saturday afternoon to check the casinos in our area. More than two years later, I am a full blown gambling addict... and would like to live a gambling free life.

Losses: I am very particular with exact numbers; I had a spreadsheet where I tallied my winnings and losses. For that span of time of gambling to different casinos, I ...

Escape Gambler

This is my first post.
I have read many of the other posts regarding stopping gambling and can relate to most of them. I've somewhat decided that I am an escape gambler. I remember when I first started slots about 20 years ago. I sure wish I could turn back the clock and take a different path. I had just broken up from a long relationship and then started caring for my mother. After she ...

Hard yards...

Hi guys
Just checking in.
Today I am really struggling as the grim reality of what I have done to my life through gambling really sinks in.
My job is stressful at the moment and the ghosts of my gambling habit keep rattling the chains of winning some money trying to lure me back into the trap.
My mate won $2,000 on the pokies and I keep thinking gee if I had $2,000 right now ...

Sticking to budget brought on by gambling

Man, I'm already past my food budget for this month... so I go to the store and Haagen Daaz are on sale 3 for 10!! That's cheap and plus I had a coupon. So I just put that amount on next month's budget. Cheating, I know.

Does anyone else find it really difficult to deny themselves anything? I checked my expenses this month and there were like 4 things I didn't really need, but it ...

the voice

Every morning I wake up, the voice says, "today you can go and win some money...........
the casino is so close; it's just 30 minutes drive.........think of how happy you will be with those winnings; you can buy yourself whatever you want......" What is sick about it, is that I have the money to buy what I want anyway; I just want to use somebody else's money........that is what they call coveting and greed, my ...

My marriage is in trouble:(

I finally got the courage to tell my husband about my debt and how I can barely swing by. He is so upset that I hadn't told him. I didn't even tell him how I got in debt, and now based on his reaction, I definitely won't. I was hoping he would be more supportive. I've put myself in this financial mess, and today was a clear indication that I will not go back to ...

Admitting I have a problem

Hi Everyone,

This is really difficult for me to say but it has got to the point where I need help.

I estimate my debt to be close to £20,000 including credit cards at this moment in time!

My Story:

I have often used gambling to subsidise my income at university, this started with putting £100 in my account and placing wagers, aiming to win £10.00 at a time. This of course proved successful at ...
