Advice please: Problems with intimacy and driving SOs away

My therapist told me yesterday that I exhibit certain Borderline traits, which I already knew. Among these would be a severe fear of abandonment and problems with intimacy. I feel very alone when I am not in a relationship. However, as much as I want to be in a relationship, I keep driving good guys away. As soon as they start to become close it's almost like someone else inside me takes over and purposefully ...

How do you perceive boundaries and validation?

OK, one more ask a BPD question, and back I return to the shadows. :D First, I would like to thank you for your frank and honest responses on my first question thread. While I do know a few pwBPD (as in formally diagnosed, not suspected) in real life besides, it's not easy to come out and ask them questions like this. It's kinda hard to ...

Do you have an elaborate fantasy world..?

I wouldn't describe myself as delusional (not in a visual sense, anyway), but I find that when life is too much (which is by the end of almost every day) the only place I have left to go to is my own world. I've also found I'm trying to control my environment as much as I can, because in a controlled environment, there is nothing that could trigger, stir up painful emotions and frustration etc. ...

What do you BPDers fear?

Hello all. I'm normally on a board that caters to nons like me, but I do have a question that I thought of looking at the posts of those with BPD. I generally keep quiet, since I have my own space, but this isn't something that I think could be reasonably asked among nons. (And for those nons out there, I have a good board for you to check out...just ask me in PM. ...

Locked inside my head.

At 19 I was diagnosed with BPD and I laughed at the psychiatrist. 2 years later I read the book on BPD and was very honest with my self. Yea, that was me, every bit of it. But you see I am a very "mind over matter person". I wanted to know how to fix it. So I use the book as a road map. I had been studying psych since I was 13, so ...

Laughing at Ourselves: The key?

I'm beginning to feel that a sense of humour is truly essential in coming to grips with ourselves. The ability to laugh at ourselves, at other people's criticisms or jokes. It is very hard when you feel like you are hitting your head against a brick wall when other people don't seem to understand you or what you are going through. But when we can, at any opportunity, laugh at ourselves, then maybe it will ...

Going for Dx today by LPC, Thursday by MD

Previously Dx'd bi-polar, but I knew it didn't fit. My mood swings are not the same as BP and I have other symptoms (many) that do not fit BP. So....I bought tons of books and read on everything myself...

Well, I have read the books, gotten confirmation from the few people who know me best. (Of course, some of my friends "think I'm crazy for thinking I'm crazy!" LOL.....I use that term jokingly....I do not ...

I got a C from Chinese should I kill myself?

Okay, so here's the deal. I'm a freshman in the Japanese department of my university, and Chinese is a compulsory subject. We just had our final, and I got a C. I swear everyone else got either a B or an A (okay some people totally failed, but that doesn't count because they're gonna fail out of the whole department anyway, and that's the point, that's what I don't want :S ). What's even more ...
