Happy songs

Postby GerardG » Tue Sep 16, 2008 7:03 pm

Most of the posts Ive seen have been about favorite sad songs and such, How about we turn it on its head and find out what everyones favorite "happy" song is. What I mean by this is a song that you just cant help but smile when you hear it, or a song thatll cheer up your mood. Im sure we all have some...

For me it would be:

Slither by Velvet Revolver
Stand Up For Rock and Roll by Airbourne
C.O.D by ACDC
Heroes of Our Time by Dragonforce
Maybe Someday by Black Stone Cherry
Automatic Thrill by Gluecifer
Hot Kiss by Juliette and The Licks

As you can see pretty much anything full of either major chords, huge riffs and mental solos :P

P.S: I once saw an article that said Rock and Metal music in general (Not going to count doom/black/death metal for obvious reasons) was benficial for your mental wellbeing. Something about how the major chords that are primarily used in such songs encourge happy emotions. Not sure if there is any validity to such a statement but it would explain why us metalheads seem to quite immature and fun loving compared to skeets and chavs (please no one mention that rockers might be happy because of the weed they smoke, thats very stereotypical and not true at all)

Ooo, the Goo Goo Dolls also sang the famous 'Iris'. Another song that makes me happy is 'Thorn In My Side' by The Eurythmics.

Jeremiah was a bullfrog!
It makes me laugh everytime I hear it and I can't help but sing along!
But my sons favourite song is Girlfriend - Avril Lavgne and my daughter's is You should be dancing by the Beegees, all bring a smile to my face.

I think that the 'Jermiah Was A Bullfrog' song is by the band called Three Dog Night and is actually called 'Joy To The World'. It was on the Forrest Gump soundtrack (which is the greatest soundtrack EVER). It had other greats such as:

Rebel Rouser (by Duane Eddy)
Mr. President (by Randy Newman)
San Francisco (Be Sure to Wear Flowers in Your Hair) (by Scott McKenzie)

Yes that's right Kevin, it reminds of me when I was a little girl me and friend used to go to the park, swing on the swings as high as possible and scream it at the top of our lungs. :D
