I forgot about that final fantasy, Dissidia. I won't get to play it right away, but I'll buy it :)
Nothing appropriate comes to mind.

It's a spin off, action based FF. I only started crisis core FF up, which is also on the psp. It gave me a headache because of the flashing. It also has something to do with the screen size. I think this might be a problem with the new games for me.

I can just picture those two guys jumping around in their seats banging the joypads right now. Don't you love those moments?- where you are actually swweating merely by playing a computer game?

Yes I do, although more often too not the sheen of sweat is caused by too much coffee and the harrowing frustration of being locked into a stage or level that seems quite beyond my capacity to escape   .

Have you any examples off the top of your head of situations in games that seemed just impossible to get past? I remember renting Flashback once on the Mega Drive, and I couldn't even get past the first pit! I have since completed the game though, many years later.

Flashback? Blimey that is going back a few years! If recall correctly, it had some very impressive animation for it's day.
Anyway there is one game in particular that stands out in meeting your criteria. A toturously difficult experience, also on the megadrive, entitled "The Immortal". If it doesn't ring any bells, the basic premise was negotiating an abysmally trecherous, isometric dungeon with a Gandalf type mage. It was absolutely laden with booby traps that resulted in instant kills and when you weren't being electrocuted or devoured by subterranian wryms, that was usualy down to the fact that you were engaged in combat with a wandering monster (of which there were hundreds)!

The game ultimately proved two things to me - 1. It was far too hard forme to complete " 2. In making me scream to the extent it did, also that my voice had not properly broken.

Yes, Flashback had some pretty neat graphics for its day. Virtual Racer caused such a stir too, as I recall. I've never actually heard of The Immortal... ...and I cannot find any articles online about it (but I've only searched for 10 seconds!).

Why don't you play it again to see how you fare at it? I find that playing games is easier now that I have a more mature/logical mind.
