Favorate games EVER!

Postby Svelt 3 » Wed Aug 20, 2008 8:58 pm

I've noticed quite a few threads on here devoted to the noble pastime of being a computer game nerd. I've always been a big games geek myself and was wondering what other's all time lists were.
I started out trying to think of a top ten and then a top twenty list, but gave up because I'm chronically indecisive. Instead I've seperated them into the different consoles I've had over the years and even then I couldn't decide which order to put them in so they're not in any particular order.

Master system 2-
Alex Kidd
Sonic the hedehog

Arcade-
Street fighter
Metal slug

Nintendo 64-
Zelda: Ocarina of time
Goldeneye
Lylat wars
Mario kart 64

Playstation-
Command & Conquer

Gameboy-
Pokemon Red/Blue

P.C-
Grand Theft Auto 3

Gamecube-
Metroid Prime
Super smash Bros Melee

Xbox-
Half life 2
Halo
Mercenaries
Brother's in arms: Earned in blood

Xbox360-
Elder scrolls IV: Oblivion
Mass effect
Call of duty 4
Gears of war
Halo 3
Grand Theft Auto 4

Currently playing:
Civilisation Revolution
Devil may cry 4
Bioshock
Dynasty warriors 6

My favorate game genre has normally been first and third person shooters, but since Oblivion and Mass effect am a big RPG person as well now.
If pushed to say what the best game I've ever played was, it would have to be between Half-life 2 and Elder scrolls IV: oblivion with perhaps Half-life 2 just edging it. GTA 3 & 4, Zelda: Ocarina of time and Mass effect have got to be up there as well. What about everyone else?

Nintendo 64
-Goldeneye
-Perfect Dark
-Star Wars Episode I: Racer

Playstation (only played a handful)
-Gran Turismo 2
-Medal of Honor

Playstation 2
-Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (I also loved GTAIII and Vice City, but San Andreas was my favorite of them)
-Monster Hunter
-Gran Turismo 3
-Ace Combat 4: Shattered Skies
-Unreal Tournament

Xbox
-Halo: Combat Evolved
-Halo 2 (before the multiplayer patches)
-Steel Battalion
-Phantom Crash
-Burnout 3: Takedown
-Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge
-Sniper Elite
-Unreal Championship
-Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind

Xbox 360
-Mass Effect
-Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (multiplayer only)
-Grand Theft Auto IV
-Chromehounds (multiplayer only)
-Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
-Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved

PC
-Star Wars: X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter
-Medieval II: Total War
-Europa Universalis III

Absolute favorite games of all time
-Steel Battalion
-Mass Effect

Currently playing
-Mass Effect
-Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
-Grand Theft Auto IV
-Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved 2
-Europa Universalis III
-Medieval II: Total War

That's all I can think of at the moment out of the games I've played. I also owned an NES and Super Nintendo when I was little, but Mario was essentially the only thing to play on those. I'm not a handheld person, either. I had a Sony PSP for a short time when it came out, but sold it when all the games I had wanted for it were either delayed for over a year or canceled altogether.

Yeh, I remember Paperboy indeed! In fact, I have Paperboy II as a SNES ROM on my PC.

Guys, this thread rocks - I'm a big sucker for games. They bring back so many good memories. I'm glad to see that you love Zelda: The Link's Awakening too, Asuka. That's one of the best ever. Anyway, here's my concise list:

Game Boy - Zelda: The Link's Awakening
NES - Super Mario Brothers
SNES - Super Mario World
Sega Mega Drive - Micro Machines II: Turbo Tournament / Sonic The Hedgehog II / Street Fighter II: Special Championship Edition
Playstation - Final Fantasy VII
PC - Championship Manager series

Thanks for the memories guys.

No, I had forgotten it actually, but thanks for reminding me. I feel like playing it again now, it's so good. I have it as a Game Boy ROM on my PC. I never actually owned a Game Boy!

I just looked at screenshots of Lost Odyssey and it's scary the graphics these games have these days. To be honest, I'm scred to play these kinds of games because they look so real at times. The most up-to-date console that I have is only the Playstation I!

I'm used to less intense graphics as seen in games such as Commander Keen

Lost odyssey is the best r.p.g. on any next gen system.Alot of the creators of final fantasy seven worked on this game. Yes you will not be dissapointed...Im actually playing it as I type!( I have it paused of course.

Eternal sonata is a great r.p.g. with great music and an original story, you get to play as Chopin! I would recommend that also. You should be able to pick both up cheap. Their the two best r.p.g.s on next gen systems. So in short; YES buy these games!

Alright cool, thanks for the comments. I will definitely think about getting these if I see them cheap or in a two for one deal or something.

Chucky don't you play any modern games? face your fear man! :)

No, I don't actually play any modern games. I'm too scared to get back into the gaming world. Besides, consoles are far too expensive these days. Here, I think a Playstation III is around €400, and I just don't have that sort of money. Plus, I feel that inventiveness has gone out of modern games (i.e. they're all the same).
