Hello,
If a person with DID suspects someone knows or suspects that they have DID what are some of the actions would the system take in this situation?

"the whole purpose of the condition is to hide itself and not make itself obvious"

I suppose it would depend on how much the system trusted that individual. Keeping it covert is a means of protection, and if the system doesn't feel the need to protect itself, I would think it would be more overt when around that person.
None at this time

That is like saying, if a group of people who have just robbed a bank know that the police know, what do they do? It depends on the group of people (system) there is no generalised response.
Why?

I would imagine it depends on who the person is who they suspect knows? Perhaps it will encourage them to come out and be less covert. Perhaps it will create huge anxiety and the system will become destabalised. Perhaps it will mean they hold a meeting about how to pull things together so people don't know...

Just a note that it's not always clear to the person with DID and their alters that what's going on with them is DID. They may well know, all of them or certain alters, that something is odd about them, maybe even there is more than one of them, but they may not have considered it as far as a condition. I'm not sure any of my alters ever knew we had MPD or DID. They knew we were more than one sort of but that's it. DID is about hiding not only to others but to ones' selves.
That's why in general I'm not opposed to someone on the outside who has earned much of a person's trust state that they think their friend has DID. Explaining that it's so much a mental illness as a condition which children develop to protect themselves when they are young and vulnerable might go far to taking the shock and blame away. It took me investigating and reading about DID for my others to start figuring it out with me, that that's what we had. It took one of them breaking through against my will to convince me that he existed. Since he clearly wasn't me, it was obvious in a moment that I truly did have DID and other personalities.
Dx = DID. My blog. My personal Periodic Table of 78 alters.

Back when I did not know I have DID I was nonetheless aware that I sometimes felt taken over and behaved differently and I was very uncomfortable about it. I tried to suppress the identity alterations as much as I could, or I would withdraw from or avoid people, especially people who knew me. I tried to hide it.
Now I know and in the past year I have interacted with more than one person who I think has DID and does not know it, or at least is still in the closet about it. I think the single most important thing you can do is be patient. If you think she can tolerate it, you can refer to her different selves. You can even give them their own nicknames, if they don't already have nicknames. Many of us have had the experience of realizing that other people know our alters by different names.
