You're all one person

Postby mosaicmonkey » Fri Dec 02, 2011 2:02 pm

Do you guys view yourselves as different people or parts of one person?

We view ourselves as different people, we have different names, backgrounds, ages, allergies, mental & physical health problems - the only thing that's different to singletons is that we happen to share a body. It irritates us when people try to insist that we're all one person

Note: we're happy to discuss this and explain why, but if it turns into an argument (which sometimes these kind of things do), we won't be taking part :)

We view ourselves as different people and as one person. :D Is that confusing or what?

It's partly because of the way our system works that there is a lack of information about most parts that are upfront most (someone else holds the information about names and looks for some parts) and so sometimes we haven't had much choice than to view ourselves as one person.

But we do definitely view ourselves as being different people because we all have different likes, dislikes, abilities and memories...

It makes things confusing when we are talking to people so we tend to try and present like one person (we switch super frequently, like every few sentences sometimes) so sometimes we are always directly contradicting ourselves, saying that sometimes we feel one way, other times we feel another and so overall we feel a happy medium. Oddly people don't seem to find this kind of inconsistency that strange but it is tiring to always remember to state the view opposite to what you believe at the time, just to be on the safe side with other parts talking to people in the future...

hopefully no arguments will happen because everyone will realize that everyone and the way their system works is different and unique to each individual. :D

It's exactly the same with us! We switch often & super fast so people rarely see it & don't realise why we're arguing with ourself aha

I know most people are pretty cool, but sometimes things like this cause offence and stuff and we don't like arguing so thought we'd say it upfront. Hope it didn't sound rude! :)

Our therapist has started noticing we do this now and every time he catches us he looks super intrigued about it. He knows we have DID and he knows we switch really quickly and I think he takes it as his personal challenge to spot it at moments like that.

No it didn't sound rude, we don't like arguing either. I especially don't like it when there are arguments because then I have to work out what to do about it seeing as I'm a mod and then everyone gets upset at me for whatever action I have to take. :( That's why I thought I'd remind everyone that there's no right or wrong way to see things cause everyone is different and unique. :D Everyone's been really respectful lately which has been good to see. :D

Well, before we got names, we were the same person but after every personnality accentuated aroud the name it chose. And now it's even more chaotic. With the revelation that our Core disappeared, it gives something along the lines of "We are X, but I'm Y"
Oh noes! I ssspilt my PsssiPsssi all over mah keysssboard

Zmiya, m, core replacement
Nivis, f, V's child part

@psipsi, is there really any need for that? there's nothing wrong with integration.

the general opinion we all have changes. most of us feel like our own people, but we also feel we're not complete people sometimes.
