mapping my system

Postby sanan22 » Fri Jul 08, 2011 4:28 pm

this is my first try to map my system and I'm going to include the "dormant"/disappeared alters as well. however there are still some that I don't about so the real list is probably bigger.

little brother (10): very sensitive, needs constant attention and prone to bad depressions
anxious little brother (11): afraid of pretty much everything, gets panic attacks and is very hard to talk to
angry little brother (12): angry pretty much all the time, protector of little brother and his best friend
painkiller (age unknown): this alter does not feel pain, sadness or anything negative. everything "bad" feels just "good" when he's out. he commits selfharm just for "fun". and the main supporter of "angry little brother". wears black and only black
(disappeared) little internal helper (15): was supposed to be independent and help the system go on by it's own. 2 years older than body. later split into everyone that has been in the system.
------------
every one from this point are parts of "little internal helper"

(disappeared) math lover (age unknown): loved math alot and had a dream of being able to predict everything in the world
(disappeared) dreamer (age unknown): used to spend his day at his room, looking at the wall and just dream away. experienced severe depersonalization and derealization. had lost contact with outside world
(disappeared) thinker (late 30's): wanted to find solutions to the problems but was drowned in his own things. no social life.
(disappeared) trendy girl (age unknown): little known about her. wanted to undergo sex-change.
sports guy (17): knows alot about being healthy and the healthiest and strongest of us all. his heart beats with 30-40 beats/minute less than all of us.
fashion guy (age unknown): knows alot about fashion, cloth marks, color matching, perfumes, sprays etc. very concerned about the looks and spends lots of money
positive (age unknown): very optimistic. loves wine and has great deal of knowledge about it.
book lover (age unknown): don't know much about him. he loves books.
(dormant) poet (age unknown): very sensitive and romantic. has his collection of poems and photos he was taken/writen.
tired (22): our previous host. he became sick when the system dissociated lately
------------------
(alters with names start here)

Nabil (21): very energetic, independent, strong willpower. takes care of alot of things, very stubborn and rigid.
Amir (24): smart, the systems current internal advisor
Ali (19): sexual, romantic, relationship person, likes alcohol, clubs, trance
Muneer (age unknown): don't know much about him. Ali's internal best friend. some of what I mentioned for Ali is probably muneer's
Saeed (32): me: current host

13 alters currently active

Very good! I started like that and then one by one they would show me their image and I would redo my map so it was more accurate and with images. I have been leaving off the ones actually that have not shown me their image since the ones that have are the most active and seem to want to communicate.

Thank you for sharing. I have been just been doing mapping with my therapist yesterday. Since I've only become aware of certain alters since my DID diagnosis, I'm sure (and a little nervous) that there are more to be discovered.
Dx - DID

Brandic (me), Asher, RAGE, Samantha, young violent part, young me (scared part), protector (semi-mute), "the part who feels no pain"

Good job. System mapping can get so confusing! I've been working on our system map, with the help of one of the other alters, but so far we have only been able to name 30 of the 40 alters we know are in here. It happens, and over time others will continue to be revealed (:

No wonder you don't list them on your signature.

Yep, there's just a few too many for that to happen! Plus it keeps us all a little more anonymous, which I like (:

Good work! Do you have any idea why some of them have disappeared?

not much new really. I came to realize that some of the separate alters mentioned are actually the same alters with different sides. for example > sports guy and nabil are the same person. positive, poet and muneer are the same person. which I think is a good thing because it shows less fragmentation than I thought earlier.
I became more familiar with the internal relations within the system, like muneer and ali being best friends, nabil knows the majority of the alters and is amir's best friend.

there is fairly an agreement within my system that the alter who disappeared were more of a problem to the system and were locked in before disappearing completely. for example trendy girl wanted to undergo sex-change to fit her which would destroy the body for all the male alters.
another reason is some of the alters had a very tough job and became cores of themselves. eaxmples: little internal helper and thinker

Re: mapping my system

Postby Leda » Thu Aug 11, 2011 7:15 pm

Does it help to map this out? I have recently decided to tell my therapist about this condition and am super worried. Yet, if they see the map maybe it will be easier for them (and me) to understand what is going on. I only know of two right now, though there have been more.

Angelus--protector of sorts. Dislikes males (mostly) and is elegantly attracted to females.
Willow--British lady, dialect-wise. She is the most reasonable of any of the others I have heard about or encountered. She tries to give sound advice if I am going into anxiety mode.

I have had another, Anubis but he is dormant. He is very strong, but soft spoken.

Sericellet was another and she was always super bubbly.

Is this...a good start?
