Headaches

Postby intentional~breather » Fri Jun 03, 2011 3:03 am

Do any of you suffer from severe headaches. Not migraines, these are far worse some days. The specialist says they are frolm switching, which to us makes perfect sense because we have see the corrolation. We have been told that they will ease when there is less switching, but right now, this is a backburner issue for us....and both our therapist, and specialist, agree.

If you have, and have found something to be helpful, it would be appreciated, thank you....

I suffer from headaches almost every waking moment. Last night I had a real bad one. I've started using cold compresses on my forehead, which is usually where the area my head is pounding. Our T. agrees that it's from switching and it isn't real a big "in your face" issue. Ugh. (Jason)

We've had headaches for most of our life, to the point where not having at least a bit of head pain feels odd. It's not usually too bad, since instead of just switching, we slowly blend and exhange places, but any rapid switching makes the head throb like crazy.

Yes we get headaches from rapid switching too. We try to avoid unsafe situations or stressful situations that will tend to cause more frequent switching. By avoiding too many of those situations we decrease the amount we need to switch and so also decrease the headaches.

Also we've found that some don't drink much water when they are out and sometimes that will lead to a headache too and so we try to remind them to have some water...

That is such an obvious but overlooked reason for headaches. Completely forgot about this.

Ugh.. Headaches.. Yeah.. We get them almost all the time. Actually, we joke about being abnormal when we don't have headaches. But, normally they're pretty bearable, but for the past two days I've been suffering from this terrible headache. Sheesh... I've never had a migraine before, but if I had to guess, this would be worse. Im not too sure if it's related to switching though

I keep a bottle of Excedrin in my room, and in my car. Headaches used to be an almost everyday occurrence, now I am mostly co-conscious between Real Sara and Tom so I don't get as much.

Uggggh is right, they are terrible. We are sorry headaches are seemingly and commonly suffered, but it's good to know that we are not an exception to a rule. Thank you for your responses.

We gets headaches when there is any struggle about switching, like when someone wants to come out but whoever's out doesn't want to let them or wants to postpone a switch. A few of those struggles in a short period of time and, boom, headache of a very particular kind. No standard remedies (aspirin, advil, etc.) seem to help, only a lack of switching stops it. I used to get tension headaches from overworking, stress, but they're not the same type. I've read about an MPD headache in the literature, so I think it's been documented. When we go for a long casual walk and switch almost accidentally, back and forth, cooperatively, generously, no headache at all.

I've also gotten headaches from long body memory flashbacks that cause me to cry a lot, but then, the few times in my life when I've had a really good cry about present-day stuff, I can get headaches too, so it may be more related to the crying itself.

Yeah same, it definitely seems to be when there is a struggle over switching and it is a very particular type of headache...

Yeah same. I think you've made a really important point about the headaches being caused by the struggle surrounding switching as opposed to being caused by switching that is cooperative and agreeable.
