I just got diagnosed and it feels awful.

Title.

I had a super weird and uncomfortable assessment with a clin Psy. I knew anyway that they would probably diagnose DID or OSDD. I don't know what we talked about but I felt awkward.

A couple of alters switched out. She coxed a little out, which I really wish hadn't happened and then started talking about integration and getting to 'understand the system'. Why do I feel so grossed out and horrible. Kept asking questions I didn't know the answer to.

It went on for hours. I'm so tired.

Yeah, getting diagnosed hurts a lot and can make you feel awful. I remember feeling both horrible and elated after getting our diagnosis, but that's because it is painful. Facing all of the pain and trauma is scary, draining, and just awful.

However, getting a diagnosis can be affirming and helpful too.

Take care of yourself and I hope things are a bit better today.

Hello,

getting a diagnosis can be scary because there are so many disinformations about DID and it makes the diagnosis super scary. Also the amnesia can be scary too.

But there is also a nice thing to it: now that you know it's DID, you know what ressources to look for, what therapists to ask for help, and you can start to recover! Isn't that awesome?

You'll find a ressources thread linked in my signature. Welcome aboard the healing train!
