And getting treatment for cptsd at long last.
My T has recognised that I am dealing with different personalities as well.
This has been three years of seeing different therapists and getting passed about.
I think that I've finally found the one to help as he isn't freaked out by the alters.
He said its gonna take a while though

Hi Western.
It's good that you have a T who is working with you and isn't freaking out. That's a huge thing to have. It is going to take time and effort, but at least the path has been made a bit easier.
Take care,
Vi

Thank you.
I don't really have names for my alters. It's more that they have particular roles to play. Kind of like gate keepers and protectors. And I have about two or three that I'm aware of.
I'm kind of constantly the same one when I'm in a therapy session as well. They usually only switch when I'm triggered and I've not been triggered as yet.
Everything makes sense now that this has been diagnosed properly. T said that it's gonna take a long time because we have to find a way of putting together a jigsaw puzzle plus he doesn't wanna trigger me too much because one of my alters is really aggressive as well.

Hi Western,
Welcome back. It's great that you have a good therapist.
You may want to search your past posts on here to learn more about the alters. You refer (or post as) different alters by name. There was a little who posted, and a teenager. Also, I think you used to be Manners73, and posted sometimes in the DID forum under that name as well.

Welcome back (kinda) on the board then! I linked the ressources thread to my signature so you can have a quicker access to the thread listing DID and trauma ressources. It is always useful to have those close by.
Good luck on your recovery!

Thank you.
Whilst putting pieces of memories together yesterday with my T I managed to remember some pretty disturbing stuff from way back. It's blown my mind a bit.
I was supposed to be having emdr therapy but now My T is worried about doing it because he doesn't want me to freak out because there is a protector who I find difficult and he doesn't want him to front. It's all complicated really.
But whatever he's still gonna help me, he's promised me this.

There are a lot of things that can help before engaging into EMDR. Also, the direct EMDR protocol is too much to handle for us DID people, the "reverse EMDR" is better (instead of focusing on the past situation, we start by focusing on how it affects the life here and now and work from here - it is a specific method with specific teachings but knowing it exists can help your T find some teachings in their area to master this aspect of the technique and that is awesome).
One step at a time. You can do this, all of you together.
