Games?

Postby Fishespond » Fri Apr 03, 2020 2:05 pm

Hi all!

I hope I am doing this correctly (as in, creating a new topic for this).

I was wondering if any of you plays any nice online games and/or can suggest some?
We are in the fourth week of forced lockdown for the quarantine and as Millie mentioned in some other posts, somewhere, things are getting a bit erratic...

I enjoy playing almost anything that is not League of Legends- or Dota-like. I don't mind playing with a team and I enjoy playing by myself. I have been asked by the protectors of my system not to chose something too "heavy" or sad because they don't want any bad triggers happening. I don't really know what to look for.

At this point, quite frankly, even board games are fine.

Thank you in advance and I hope this is an okay topic!

Hi

Welcome!

Two of our system like video games but more the old school ones from our childhood such as Zelda and Final Fantasy (the earlier ones) and also some puzzle games. We tend to play via the cartridges as our broadband connection is slow and erratic which makes live streaming difficult.

We also have the wii fit and ring fit (switch) and use them for exercise.

We really enjoyed Zelda: Breath of the Wild on Switch, the graphics are stunning even in game play especially if you have it connected up to a large screen TV! The dock to connect to a TV comes with the package when you buy the 'original' console (with detachable controllers not the lite version).

Final Fantasy has an online only version but we've never played that one so can't really say what the content is like. You might find someone has reviewed it on YT if you want to check first? Usually though the plot involves being part of a team (not all humans) who fight in turn based battles against various monsters. I'd stopped collecting the series after FF10 on the Playstation originally though.

Not knowing what your triggers are its hard to say but the graphics on the later ones are more 'film like and realistic' than the earlier PS versions. The World of Final Fantasy Maxima on Switch (think it was also available on PS Vita) has more 'cutesy' characters more typical of Nintendo's style. We have currently just started that one while waiting for BOTW2 to be released (which could be held up now due to coronavirus lockdown in Japan) and also got the "Brain Training' one but haven't opened that one yet. (planning on saving that one to open in case we're still in lockdown for our birthday and can't see family or anything).

A lot of people seem to like one called 'Skyrim' but I've never played it. Usually if I think I might like a game by the description I look on YT to see if anyone has done a video review or walkthrough so I can see actual screenshots and gameplay then decide.

Hope thats helpful

I would recommend looking around on Steam.

The favourite game that we all seem to like is Stardew Valley. You can move at your own pace and play how you want to play. It's really rewarding to see all small actions you do add up.

Hi Kit!

Very, thank you.

We tried many of those games (love Zelda breath of wind, love Zelda, in general, to be honest, although the favourite is Majora's Mask.

We also tried Skyrim but I don't know there's something about it that just doesn't attract me? Just like monster hunter, I can't quite put my fingers on why but I just get bored after a while. Unfortunately as a system we tend to like games that are apparently quite "unique" like Persona (the whole series).

Me personally I love a good scare, I like horrors but I am not allowed to play them alone anymore. We tried FF as well and I think at a certain point some of us also bought the online version? I can't really remember but I'll ask.

I want Nintendo switch so much!! I am thinking about buying it (if Dave lets me, he's in charge of money). If that's the case, you have other games to suggest for Nintendo switch?

Thanks so much!

Haven't had mine very long so only played BOTW through twice, a boxing fitness game, Ring fit (still doing that as only got it xmas this year) and FF Maxima which I've only just started. oh..and Links Awakening I finished too - a redo of the gameboy version. (2D old style). Spent most of the time just riding round on the horse on BOTW as our other gamer is a child alter who just particuarly likes that part of it! :D

If you google 'other games like Zelda on switch' and scroll down several people have asked this question on reddit and if you go through the posts they discuss which one's and what they are like. Think Stardew Valley was mentioned on there too as a like a 2D old school Zelda. There's lots of suggestions depending on which part of the game you like - the free roaming, fighting monsters, puzzles in dungeons etc. There is only ONE BOTW..you're not gonna find another exactly like it!

You might be able to get the console pre-owned on a certain famous auction site (clue - starts with an E! ;) ) and copy of BOTW for less than new.

This is probably a dumb one. but i really really really enjoy minecraft. There are so many different things you can do and if you join or go on a server a lot of times they'll have interesting mods or such. I find playing minecraft even alone is really soothing. something about the repetitive of act of mining in the game...having said that the Creeper's can do jump scares if you play in anything but peaceful so be aware of that lol.

For the younger alters out there, Little John wants to share that "jigidi.com has fun puzzles to do." He has spent many, many hours on this site and is partial to Pooh, Disney and anything with cute little animals and lots of color.

I like playing quizes online like colour vision quizzes and spot stuff quizzes. Not allowed to download games coz others don't trust them and last time I had talking tom I spent money on a virtual cat so not allowed stuff. But I like to play quizzes on line. I'm in Hufflepuff according to an online quiz, I'm a phoenix as a myth creature, I have super power colour vision, I'm really good at slang from all over the world and from history lol I do math and other quizzes too. But I like the fun ones best. Mandy
