hi Em, feel free to do that
I know Iain, that Self talk can drive you nuts. first we didn't know which self they meant and when they described it we knew we don't have someone like that. well, Mike gets the closest but he is also inactive most of the time.

Another problem with applying the IFS framework to someone with a dissociative disorder is that there are assumed to be static categories of ego states, specifically labeled, and each ego state is assumed to be describable as one of these categories. Note that ego states in a non-dissociative person are not at all like alters. For us, alters who have spent any appreciable amount of time in the body -- and that's most of us -- have developed their own ego states, roughly, various ways of being depending upon the circumstances and environment.
We have what sounds both like and different from birdsong's "adult self." We call it our adultness and it's generally the set of awarenesses about the world and how it works which is specifically mature, adult. It's a mostly shared or sharable set of known facts, beliefs, and behaviors that is accessible to a lot of us, including many of our teens. This is nothing like an alter though. When appeals are made to our adults, there can be a collective response or collective decision-making but it's still coming from alters even if we can operate as a singleton.
Dx = DID. My blog. My personal Periodic Table of 78 alters.

Hi Johnny-Jack,
Is that COOL or what?!?! You are super smart. Explains the whole ego-state thing.
Thanks,

When they say 'be yourself',
which one do they mean?
