We seem to have one who either doesn't know they have DID, doesn't think they have it or are in denial as I find sometimes I have wanted to come and reply to something but been blocked by thoughts asking why I'm on here? ..and that it's not appropriate. But I (Kit) can't work out where or who it's coming from!

I guess it's possible considering in the past Maddie was the only alter who believed she couldn't walk when others in the system knew the body could. If it applies to physical abilities then it could apply to emotional/mental health conditions too? Maddie herself was in complete denial about the autism for years. Maybe the thoughts about DID are hers too? She always wished to be seen only as having a few mobility problems but otherwise 'normal'.

I think my point is some alters may have the ability to block others. So some others can't get a whole sense of who they are (may not be aware they are part of a system, or believe they can't do things, other alters can). if that makes sense??

Thanks to Sarandipity and Floralie for mentioning the value of inviting and/or allowing alters to front. I didn't have amnesia per se but recall of what happened when others fronted was fuzzy. The absolute best way to get to know our alters has been to have them to front, when circumstances were safe for them to do that. So at home, not at work, while taking a walk, while relaxing alone somewhere.

Not only does fronting offer everyone else a chance to get to know them, what they do, how they think, what seems important to them, fronting also brings that alter into the present. The more time most of us have spent in the body, the more we've healed.
