losing awareness

Postby OceanWaves » Sun Jun 03, 2018 11:39 pm

I feel like I've started to, or already have, been losing awareness of some of my parts. And it's scary. I don't know why it's happening and I don't know how to fix it.

things have been really hard in my life lately. bad depression, self harm, probably going to lose my job, new flashbacks...etc.

My parts have done this, they call it “going dark,” the little one calls it “going to sleep.”

They do it when they need a break, or when one thinks I need to handle something when I’m trying to push them to the front to avoid it. I really hate it. So while I have no advice, I can empathize.

Have you tried communicating with them to coax them out?

I know that for me, even when things are good there are parts that sink out of awareness for periods of time. A lot of things are still very murky for me about my system, so I try not to let any changes in awareness bother me too much. I figure they've been handling things for a long time, without me knowing anything about what was going on, so if different parts swim out of awareness for awhile, then that's probably something that needs to happen for some reason that I may or may not be able to figure out.

It sounds like you have enough stress going on right now to account for more dissociation happening.
