I keep having these visions or dreams happening internally, but while I'm awake? I do this a lot as a writer where the scenes play out in my head but this is different than that.
It's things that usually include my alters and things I can't divert the path... Like, I can change how a scene goes in my head but not these? It just loops instead of changing and a lot of the subject matter is triggering.
Although sometimes it's not but it feels important. Like it changes things, I guess. It's all incredibly abstract I am sorry. It feels like a movie or something.. my brain is so wired for a narrative view maybe that's why?
I have a few thesises on what it is but I'm really new to what a System is because of how isolated I am. Is this a common thing for people with DID?

These sound like flashbacks. We had some recurring loops held by some alters that intruded into consciousness to varying degrees. And for us, these were quite distinct from imagining scenarios. We learned how to "step into" the flashback to reach/rescue the alter, and to my recollection, this was only possible towards the end of the flashback.

Hmm, I suppose so but it's usually not in a setting I've been to and takes place in what the innerworld looks like... I think.
But most likely it could be abstracting it really far and placing it in a palatable (?) way. Like how optical illusions work? That's a little abstract but the idea of, brain doesn't want to understand and places things it can/will understand.
Thank you for the reply. It makes me and the rest of us feel a little more ok about it. We were worried it was imagination on the fritz but probably not.

Hi,
I've had some similar things.
Maybe, write down what you remember. Treat it as a dream. It may be lucid dreaming. That means the symbols are important. It could be an alter (or alters) trying to communicate in images and symbols.

i dont know this simply sounds like experiencing my inner world
that things go on and i follow and things carry on in a vivid landscape. It is where the insiders live. the difference between this and imagination is exactly what you said. in imagination you can direct the narrative, change things. You are in control. In my DID inner world experience I am only in control of me an the others are in control of themselves. and it plays out.
for us it intensifies around sleep - like the hypnagogic hallucinations.Hypnogogic hallucinations feel as real and uncontrollable, however the difference is they are on the outside, not inside the mind.
keep ya head up, Don't let up, keep slayin em

not sure what the point was.

Ohh yeah that sounds more like it! It always feels different than me mentally composing a scene in my head; I wasn't sure because of how much I have done that for writing. This does make me feel a lot better about it though. Thank you!

Yes same!! It usually happens strongly when we're close to sleep. Waking up or falling asleep. Sometimes in the middle of the day but not often... and it's always inside. (We have had outside hallucinations but not as much as the inside)
Thank you for the reply!!!
