Name Changes

Postby Dolphinmuse » Wed Mar 01, 2017 10:47 am

Another question, sorry. Is it normal or ok for an Alter to change names? Adam told me the other night that he wanted to change his name to Daniel. He said that he had changed so much as a person that he wanted to change his name to show that. He asked me to look up the names and it was uncanny how much the names reflected the old way of being to the new. Really amazing. Of course it is his choice and I respect that. I was just wondering if this is a common thing. Thank you again for your help, support and understanding.

i think we can all do what we want especially if we were named by someone else. I think as parts evolve it might make sense that they want a new name. Or if a part merged with a fragment or another part it would make sense to me that they together would like new name. whatever the reason I think it is empowering to have choice and for the system to accept it!

not sure what the point was.

Many in our system have changed names throughout the years. There have been a variety of reasons. But the common thread is that it's a choice by the individual.

A lot of times we didn't have choices as a child, but we have choices now.

We all chose our own names. Even host changed her name legally. I think it is a wonderful way to feel in charge. It hurts no one. Hi Daniel!

Hi !
Some of us have change their name too : Plume, Daemon, Alexis and Cassandra.
Plume was under the legal name, but it's so much like a family name for all of us that we found her a nickname, who began to be use by her friends too, and now by her grand-mother (she don't know about the system but heard Plume's girlfriend call her that way and loves the nickname  ).
Daemon was nicknamed by Plume when she was 11yo.
Alexis change his name some weeks ago, but don't want to share the new one online.
Cassandra was Caissie before, but change her name after some events inside.

We have been in negotiations for some time between M and W. They have both hosted and co hosted and the suggestion has come up regarding a merger between the two for the good of the system. Easier said than done. Big discussions about what to be called and this seemed to result in the emergence of Morgan so instead of a merger we have ended up with somebody totally new and M and W still at loggerheads. We remain in general limbo with system in chaos. So in short yes I think that alters can change their names - after all its your system and if that is what is going on, that is whats going on.

Yes, totally normal.

In our system, each can choose how they are refered to. It is fluid. It can change. That is ok.

The only one I keep a watch of is TJ, he is a shape shifter/internal prosecutor/interject. It is important that I can pin point his behavior & what angle he is coming from.

As behavior, communication & understanding improve, he will have the same privileges as others.
