First Fathers Day Without Him

Postby kkp30030 » Mon Jun 22, 2015 3:48 am

Today was the first father's day since my father's death. It was an extremely traumatic experience going through his death. My life has been chaotic lately, but today very quiet inside. I think the others maybe are giving me a break because they know how hard this day is for me (though I am not really feeling it). My dad, once he stopped drinking around age 10 for me, was the only person in my family who cared about me or helped me. Now he is gone. Not really ready to deal with that. He was not an abuser of me, only neglect due to his alcoholism. I have forgiven him for that. He has made it up to me.

I guess it is good to have quiet today. I have been on a crazy roller coaster lately.

I am happy to have made it through the day...
DX: DID and PTSD.

Same here. Our father passed away last September 30th.

Not a fun club to be in. kkp and Colher-6, we're sending you supportive thoughts.

Thanks, Shaw. Probably our biggest common interest was watching sports. We also shared interests in drawing cartoons and writing. He said that we have the same sense of humor.
