Help with Persecutor Alter? (TW?)

Could anyone give me some advice?

I have a persecutor alter that is trying to kill me. He tortures me all the time and never really stops. He attempts to destroy me in any way possible - my concept of reality, my body, my life, my ability to function, and anything else he feels like attacking. It's like he's trying to torture me to the point of just totally destroying me.

He has been very resistant to therapy, and nothing has worked so far. He puts on elaborate ruses, pretending to be other alters, pretending to be spiritual beings, giving me fake symptoms to mislead me about what is going on or about his reasons for doing this, etc. So far, no one has been able to figure out why he's doing it. My internal communication with him is very good, and we converse throughout the day. It's usually me asking to stop and him insulting me and telling me that he hates me.

Does anyone have any advice about how to stop a persecutor alter and how to figure out why it's doing what it's doing? I can't just let him do what he wants, as some have suggested, because he'll just attack me the whole time. I've tried talking with him and offering to make deals, to work together to resolve any issues that he has, etc., but nothing has worked. And there's only so much that I can do to sort of dissociate away from him, because he has a huge amount of control over the system, both internally and physically.

I could really use some advice. The situation is very serious, and no one has been able to stop it.

One of my alters Ren, can be that way sometimes too. She is the one who picks fights with my family and smirks when I get down on myself. What I did was put her in a padded isolation room, like they have in physc wards. I had my tech wiz alter Jake put a weird electric jail door thing on it which prevented her from coming out. I could still hear her, but it at least stopped her from fronting. It allowed me to get a small break from her and I was able to start working with her. Now she just controls my anger, but she still picks fights with my mom which is annoying at times becuase it can get me in trouble. This is the best I can do, but I hope it helps!

I had the same problem with my persecutor alter. She was always trying to destroy us. I talked to my T about it and she told me to start talking to her and explaining that this is a new world now and things are different. I had just been trying to block her her but at the the time I didn't really know how.

So I started approching her and tell her that I love her, appreciate her, thanked her for trying to ease the pain, explained we don't deal with it like that anymore, I told her she was beautiful, sweet and caring. I also asked other alters to speak to her as well, specially Mother who is very nurturing and loving. It's confused her and it's kept her from wanting to destroy. I still feel her anger well up and it gets scary because I/we don't want to be hurt anymore. I also asked her her name and found out why she did what she was doing.

I think acknowledgement, validation, and appreciation go a long way. Remember your alters are there because they were protecting you when you were in danger and being hurt. A lot of times they don't realize things have changed and those coping mechanisms are no longer needed and sometimes can turn inward on the self. He may benefit from being asigned a new role in the system.

I like what the previous poster did with hers. It's a good idea to contain a malevolent alter until he/she learns life doesn't work that way anymore.

What are some of the reasons why persecutor alters might do what they do? What are some of the reasons why your alters have persecuted you or other alters?

Reasons that I have heard include:

1. Protection - the alter is trying to protect the host, the system, or another alter in some way
2. Punishment for past or current abuse (possibly mixed with protective intent)
3. Blame for being ignored or rejected by the host or the system - the alter responds by taking it out on the host and other alters

Does anyone know of any other reasons?

I have heard that people who cut or commit suicide (and I know this first hand) blame themselves and do it because they think that they don't belong in the world anymore. They want to cause themselves pain because they have caused others pain. They like destroying themselves, it is like they are saying you have hurt others so this is your karma. It is also physical pain gets rid of the emotional pain. I have also heard that a lot of criminals have had trauma and abuse in their past they have just never dealt with it.
I think what happens with persecuter alters is that maybe they hold the worst or most truamatic memorys for us and they have seen how this world copes (be it self harm or criminal activity) with that and then they act out in the same way.
