Visuals of Insiders??

Does everyone have visuals of your insiders?

I don't have clear visuals only distorted sight. Some of them have told me what they look like but not all...I do have distinct "feelings" that identify many of them for me.

Am I suppose to have visuals of my insiders?

What are your experiences?

There's no supposed to or whatever with DID, its a really unique thing from person to person. We see eachother sometimes clearly, other times just certain aspects (eyes, cheekbones, muscle definition) and other times we have no visuals and identify each other by their 'feel'. -Crow

I'll be interested in the replies. We do each seem to have a fairly specific and distinct appearance and we tend to learn more details over time. Many will describe themselves if asked but more useful are images that can be seen by others if someone is thinking about what they look like. Some alter sees another and describes what they saw. None of the visuals are as clear as a photograph but to be honest I can't even see the body's face, my face, by recall except vaguely, whereas I can recall people
I know pretty clearly. I'm not sure any one of us has ever confidently matched our own self-image with the body 100%.

My insiders are hiders and I never get any visual cues about them or about our inner world. I have no idea at all what anyone looks like.

often i wonder if people only start to see them after a DX, and its not that they "see" them, but rather their imagination creating what they think they might possibly look like.

and there is nothing wrong with that of course, whatever works for each person.

Yes we see each other inside. Sometimes really clear, sometimes not so much. Sometimes we only have the feelings. Sometimes I can actually see some of them op top of the external world. Like a sort of projection. Usually only for a split second though.

Hey there, I see all mine since having family meetings using the dissociative table technique.
Look it up and give it ago, you can do it by your self via guided imagery.

Regarding the idea/pondering that peoples imaginations create visuals of there Altas
After dx is interesting and I an sure true to some point as our imaginations are what created did and will help heal did. However my main alter Sam I have always knownwhat he looked like , every detail.we grew up together since infant school age-some27/9 years prior to any dx. . . .

The only visuals of mine that I get are dreamer and darker putting me in different outfits and stuff. They usually control all the visuals. They put me as different personalities I would never be externally but I get a strong internal impression of a personality that could be but doesn't exsist... Sorta hard to explain. It's different than the other personalities which exsist.

I have seen only two of my insiders. They all have a distinct affect and presence, but two of them have a visual image too. One is very familiar: 15yo me in the nightshirt I always wore then. One is a stranger to me: a young woman with long hair and wearing a very romantic medieval gown.

As mentioned by others in this thread, the dissociative table technique is how many multiples build visual representations of the system members. I've known about the technique for a couple of years now but have not used it. In my system our focus is on integration, so why build out internal world stuff only to leave it behind? We do hold a regular system meeting at night in bed.

Mine are closely tied to emotions- they don't even really have names (though I think one called herself Karen once, or Kacey, or something like that?). I identify them by the way they act/emotion tied to them, such as 'the angry one' or 'the child'. Any visual representation either looks like me or a friend, which usually only appears if I am talking to them in the car or something, they'll 'sit' in the passenger seat, or via a daydream. Actually, some are animal-like I think, but i never 'see' them, just kinda know about that. Most of them are more like fragments- I think that's the term- than fully-formed alters.
