Twin alter

My most recently discovered alter, Kat looks exactly like me. It's like she's my twin or something, Is this common with DID? have any of you ever had this happen?

I look alot like Aubrey. I'm her big brother.

Logan looks like a guy version of me. I wonder if he would technically be like a brother....Hmmm. I wonder how many of us are like siblings....

Looking alike vs being twins/related is kinda weird for us, though I dont know about you guys. So it might mean you're related, but it might not (I guess it really just depends on how you want to view it.)

(for example:

Lucy and Lucas are fraternal twins, Archaea and Tetra are twins and Tetra and Duadexa are twins (though Duadexa and Archaea barely know eachother). Sometimes I fill the role of Chell's mother.

Tetra, Dua, and Archaea look alike. Lucas and Lucy somewhat resemble eachother. Chell looks like she and I are probably related. I look a lot like Akane, though older, and also Kat. Vilkai and Legion look kinda similar as well.)

I know as a child I used to pretend to have a twin all the time. I would always talk to her and pretend we were switching places. I don't know if that could have something to do with this.

We've got two sets of twins, one set is identical, girls, and one set is fraternal, a girl and guy. They were "born" from two separate incidents, at the same time. Then we have what we're calling "The Spectrum" which consists of ten alters from the same incident, but only three of those consider themselves triplets, and the rest they consider siblings. I guess it just depends on what they want to be known as, or if you consider being made at the same time a tie of.. twinness..

Twins seem very common in DID systems and I think it's definitely related to having childhood friends. I have two twins who were my secret friends.

Hansel and Johann are fraternal twins with different color hair but their faces are very similar. Not all twins show up as such in people's signatures, but if you read their posts, there are lots of twins or doublets of some kind out there, triplets too. Hansel, Johann and I hung out for quite a while and I took care of them. I felt so guilty for begging them come take my place I made sure in secret that they got fun things to eat and got to do on carnival rides. Johann got hurt so badly from physical and emotional abuse (mostly betrayal) that Hansel had to come to take care of him. Quato apparently made up the fourth in our group but he was the one who was forced to participate, so we didn't have much time together and he quickly disappeared behind dissociate walls from us. Hansel and Johann always wondered where he went. As I got older, I maybe forgot about my little playmates and knew I wasn't supposed to have other friends who lived with me. I have some journal entries about how my outside friends say they don't have any inside friends and I got to feeling that it was wrong. I wrote that I heard them talking inside and they seemed nice.

One of several memories that have tended to pop into my head throughout my life was when I was a 5 year old in Quebec. I saw a boy at a restaurant who looked exactly like me except with blond hair. Based on the haunting, frustrating quality of these memories -- namely that they mean something important but I can't figure out or remember what -- tells me that it was DID related. Carter in particular feels so much like me that when he took over the body I first took him for me reverted to a younger stage. He, Luke and some others tend to look like me in the face, generally speaking.

Considering how dissociation happens and recalling memories that someone new would come to take someone else's place (usually me), twins actually seem like one of the most natural features of DID.

groups alters: twins, triplets, pairs, sets is a pertinent thread. Doing a search for twin or twins within this forum turns up a whole lot of entries.

Very well put JJ, I hadn't thought about it like that (nor seen that thread!)

We have twins and siblings in our system, as well as adoptive parents etc.
