Hi PolyAnna.
Why are you sad? There's nothing wrong with being the way you are

Thinking of you.
Cassie: Was that link for me?

I'm asking because it didn't answer my question but I wasn't sure if it was to answer me or to write to the original poster

the link was meant for the original poster
i didn't see your question at first, sorry
yes, polyfragmented means systems that have 100 or more alters
Polyfragmented DID: Most systems have a few alters, but those systems that are poly fragmented have 100 or more alters. [4] "In general, the complexity of dissociative symptoms appears to be consistent with the severity of early tramatization." [63] Such large systems are often broken into subsystems as a method of self-preservation and organization of trauma memories. The alters in one subsystem often do not know of the alters in other subsystems.

i would imagine it could be possible for there to be polyfragmentation going on, in the sense of alters having alters/parts having parts, without a system being truly polyfragmented in the sense of having 100+ alters. maybe. i don't know for sure.

The original descriptions of polyfragmented systems were of systems that had "nested" internal fragmentation: alters of alters. Naturally, polyfragmentation often (but not always) results in very high numbers of alters. Some authors writing for a general readership simplify the description of polyfragmentation by mentioning only the very high number of alters, skipping the details that are the actual defining characteristic of polyfragmentation.
