Tomboy24, I wanted to just give you a quick supporting message. Being willing to appear in that type of forum, or enviroment is very brave. I have no doubt that you are strong, intelligent, and well spoken. What you are wanting to accomplish, I agree with 100%!!!!
We would support you all the way.

I just also want to include that Dr. Phil is not a man of his word. You may be promised many things (even in contract form) that will simply just not happen. He is such a big entity that it is almost impossible to fight him. Doesn't mean we shouldn't fight though, does it?

Wishing you luck, offering support, and willing to stand behind you!

Thank you, Hoping4answers and LittleRedDogToo, for your kind replies and support. They are, of course, greatly appreciated. :)

We understand that despite things being done legally and correctly, we are still dealing with snakes. However, with legal documents, that will helps us to bring to light the extent of Dr. Phil's lies if he or his staff should decide to ignore them. We will not be silenced, either.

So far, we have not heard anything back about the show, and I expect that we won't. But if we do, we shall not be unprepared, and we will be ready to fight.

My best advise:

He will cut out what he does not want, so ONLY give him what you want and nothing else. Don't let him tape anything that could be twisted by cutting out segments. Every statement must be complete. Don't leave anything to explain a minute later. Don't trust him and know his goal is to make the public believe that DID does not exist. He is ignorant of DID so he will justify this by giving you a new DX or sending you off to a place that will do it for him.

First, I want to say that you are very brave. I think it's a very dumb move; to try to fight someone like him. Very dumb. It's one of the dumb things that I dream about doing myself and frequently wish I had the courage and intelligence and ability to do. It's one of the dumb things that I wish I could do, but know I can't. And I am scared for you. I am worried about you. And I am supporting you 100% (I want to say more than 100%, but that's technically impossible...). I want to help you in any way I can. And I admire you.

That being said, I also want to add my own thoughts on him.

He will probably ignore your request.

If he doesn't, you need to worry. Not just because he will lie and cheat. He will use loopholes - you will need a lawyer to look over the contract. You will need more than just the contract to ensure that he obeys - because he has a huge enough following that if he breaks the contract, what will you do about it? It might hurt his pocketbook if you can take him to court over it. But it won't hurt his reputation. He will do everything possible to keep it quiet, and he has many resources. Also, if you look at half of the fan posts, they are blindly loyal to him. Facts that you can back up mean nothing to them. If the words come from his mouth or are even implied by him, they are written in stone, sent from heaven, or even more important than that. These people who follow him are true idiots. And there are a lot of them.

That being said, expect that it WILL be cut/altered/etc to fit his desires no matter what you do. Be ready for it.

I have been looking a lot into toxic environments and my household is apparently full of deception of just about every kind. As I was learning to recognize these different tactics, to combat my introject and my family (who is going to be living with me again for god knows how long), I saw a lot of the same things in Phil. He is a manipulator. He will try to control the conversation, even if it is live.

The people who come on his show are generally looking to pick a fight, not spread information or actually solve anything. They are people who watch his show. People who watch his show are doing so for the entertainment. It's a myth that he is trying to help people. When someone goes on there for real help, they are ripped to shreds because neither Phil nor his viewers want to see a therapist session. He will treat you like you are lying, like you are just looking for attention, and you cannot convince him otherwise. Trust me, my family is full of these people - you can convince them of nothing. You will be mocked.

If you interrupt him, you will be the bad guy. But if he interrupts you, it's because you're trying to make excuses and are pushing off the topic. He decides the topic, because he's the one giving advice and he's the one that knows best. Always.

Your comment guides him to a point that he has to acknowledge something supportive of you, he will say as little on the topic as possible, dodge around it, etc, and keep talking until he's pushed you into a corner, and you had better not interrupt him lest you get the response mentioned above.

If you continually interrupt him or shout over him, or argue with him, it will become a source of comedy for the viewers and since you won't listen to him, clearly you are only here for the attention and just like to cause problems. You like to have attention and cause arguments - that's why you pretend to have this issue. You might have even been practicing these "alter" acts since before you sent in the request to be on the show.

Also, my grandmother (who I discovered only watches the show because it happens to be on television and it's not one of them she takes to heart - thank god) pointed out that on one show, there was a girl who was complaining about her family being horrible to her. She complained about her brother not inviting her to his wedding as horrible mistreatment, and after a while she claimed that she had a miscarriage and no one in the family cared. The brother pointed out that she likes drama and she lies a lot. He didn't want that at his wife's big day and no one in the family believed that she had even been pregnant, much less had a miscarriage. Dr. Phil began waving around a hospital bill (which no one got a good look at), claiming that it proved that she had a miscarriage. Without choosing sides here, I'd like to point out that my grandpa went to the hospital for a heart attack - hospital bills say nothing about why you were there. It says things like "Use of room 314 - 2 days - $600. Aspirin - 500mg - $200" or whatever. The only thing on my grandpa's bill that indicated a heart attack was the use of a heart monitor. There would be nothing on there that could PROVE that she was there due to a pregnancy or that there was a miscarriage. But he waved the paper around like it was absolute proof that everything he said was right, and the audience accepted that. Your papers and information will mean nothing, but his will mean everything.

Also expect to be questioned. His show is all about giving advice to people. If you came on his show, it's expected that you are looking for advice or attention. And if you keep arguing with all of his "advice", you will be discredited as nothing more than an attention/drama seeker very quickly and very easily.

I don't mean these to deter or scare you, but they are things to keep in mind. You need to be prepared and know what to expect, so I'm adding what I have seen so that you can keep them in mind and they won't sneak up on you. He may not use all of the things I've mentioned above, but he will if he feels like he needs to. He will resort to any and all of these before letting you win.

I think he deserves to have his @ss kicked. I think you are unlikely to succeed, but more than anything, I want you to succeed. Call me an optimistic pessimist. But I'm supporting you every step of the way. Best of luck and many (safe) hugs all the way through! If you need anything, please pm me.

Thank you all for your support, words of caution, advice, and wisdom.

We have not heard anything back, and so we suspect we have been ignored. Part of us is happy and fine with that, part of us is enraged and simply wants to fight all the more! (Though I don't think we'll be looking to shows like Dr. Phil to do so. That was a one-time attempt for now).

Thank you Tylas for posting that article! We are glad to find that this article was made and that the true story is finding ways to get out! Try to silence the millions that support Jenny and Judy, Dr. Phil! We'll sit here and laugh at your struggles!

We wish something could be done, something huge, that no one could ignore. Like a huge march or peaceful protest or gathering or something. We keep having this dream of getting millions of people with DID together and MAKING people hear us, the truth, and the facts! (This includes a dream of millions of people with DID storming Dr. Phil's show and taking over the cameras and sh*t like that, and it's a nice dream, though we know it won't happen).

We would love to try and go on other shows, or other things where we can help speak out and support DID, but most of our fear and doubt comes from not being officially/fully diagnosed ourselves (our official diagnosis is "Possible DID"), and we feel we need a diagnosis before we can start marching around saying "We have DID and we'll tell you all about it" and stuff like that.

** slight possible trigger ** I'm afraid that would only make people think it's a bunch of attention-seeking liars. **end** I don't think people who don't believe DID would be convinced that way.
But I agree with you. Something like that would be awesome.

Kim Nobel went on the Anderson show and that turned out nice.

I don't watch talk shows, but I bet some of them are good. Phil is just not one of the good ones.
