Apologies to Everyone

Postby tomboy24 » Thu Dec 20, 2012 11:17 pm

Well, let's get right to it, shall we?

I'd like to apologize to everyone/anyone that has had troubles or issues with any posts made by this username that discuss DID development, systems, alter "creation", and other such topics. It was never our intention to upset anyone. All we wanted was to help others to not get lost or misguided by old, outdated information/ideas, and to help them to understand DID better. There's much more misinformation out there than there is up-to-date, current, and valid information, (I mean, DID is still better known as MPD in most places). All we were trying to do is help others to not get lost in the sea of old, outdated, and often invalid information that's out there. It's hard enough trying to understand DID without having to sort through what's outdated and/or incorrect, and what's current and/or validated and correct.

So, again, I apologize to anyone that is/was upset by any of our post's. We will try to be better about putting trigger warnings in them. (Please keep in mind that we are only human and aren't perfect, so sometimes we may not always realize or remember when a trigger warning is needed).

And thank you to all of you for allowing us to be here, reading this, and (hopefully) understanding.

I don't be thinkin' you gotta worry too much. At least not nfrom our system. You be very helpful to us, all of you. I know you've helped me, Amelia - mostly Kat there, and Theresa. And the little ones in your system are very nice to ours.

So don't you be frettin'.

...Thank you....

...It's just that, with this and with comments on my "Done living this lie" thread and with that other account that got created even though it's against the rules, I feel like everything I do is wrong and that I should just stop posting or something.....

....it's been a bad day......

Bad days be comin' and goin'. I be seein' a little of that, but not all so I ain't the say all, but you can't be lettin' a bad day get to you. We all have 'em. Ain't nothin' wrong with that. Don't you be worryin'.

D@mn I'm sure if Amelia had more the urge to come on here, she be sayin' all sorts of bad things to people, but that don't be meanin' me or Jo should feel bad for that. Things be happenin' and you might not be able to change it, but look what you did. You posted this! That was d@mn brave right there.

Just be keepin' your head up and don't be frettin' so much. You'll be just fine, got it? Ain't no one mad at you and if they are, well d@mn, they ain't worth it.

Hi Cassandra, Hawk, and Co.

I've always appreciated all your advice. You have a gift for this. I mean that. I remember we had to ask if you were a psychologist after reading some of your profound advice!

So sorry to hear that...You put a lot of effort into helping people here. Here to listen if you want to talk about your day. What do you do to take a break from internal stimulation and the effects of memories? I call them "self love" nights.

Trigger warnings can be helpful, but I have noticed they get used for more and more things all the time. I appreciate that we all look out for each other, but let's not take away value from a trigger warning. So I guess I'm saying that I have no hard feelings for occasionally being triggered by things here.

My rule of thumbs is anytime I describe abuse, strong feelings, or anything graphic or violent. I don't think anything related to dissociative experiences is "TW" type material (unless something related to abuse, strong feelings, or something graphic occurs during that experience).

I hope you all feel better soon!! You have some awesome advice, I am really happy you're here!

 I remember you asking us that, too.

What Cassandra mainly meant by "It's been a bad day" is that it's been a bad day on this site, not really from memory effects or anything like that. Because of a few things that have happened today, all in the same day, Cassandra feels as though everything she does is wrong and that she should stop posting, and it's been a bad day for her today (on and off this site).

But I definitely think we need a "self love" night, so I'll be doing my best to make this happen tonight!

We were sent a request by a moderator asking us to please put in trigger warnings if we're going to discuss topics such as DID development, since some of our posts that dealt with such topics were upsetting some users (hence this post and mass apology).

So, we'll be trying to be more careful with our trigger warnings from now on.

 Thank you. I'll have Cassandra read this when she's feeling up to it. I think the responses here will help her feel better.

Thank you for your kind reply, Michael. I'll make sure Cassandra reads it when she's feeling up to it.

Awesome!! Everyone here is dealing with a lot..making a rule that after hard times there will be a self love night makes things easier I say. Nothing crazy, just something that is fun and free from heavy thoughts.

I didn't realize this was TW type material either. Good to know though. You weren't offensive or harmful, you just didn't know.

FYI, your posts haven't caused any harm here :)

Now go take it easy and enjoy your night!

tomboy24 (that means all of you): just to let you know, you have been very helpful on here.
Ok, you may have forgotten some trigger warnings, but everyone makes mistakes.

humptydumpty wrote:Trigger warnings can be helpful, but I have noticed they get used for more and more things all the time. I appreciate that we all look out for each other, but let's not take away value from a trigger warning.

I agree with this, that's why I tend to say why it might trigger (so most can just keep reading). Only when it's obviously triggering or when it's not really that important I'll leave the description (but keep the warning!).

humptydumpty wrote:I didn't realize this was TW type material either. Good to know though. You weren't offensive or harmful, you just didn't know.

Me too. I just added a trigger to a certain post about denial.

Maybe the most ironic thing is that I'm (almost) never triggered on this site. The only thing that comes near a trigger is when I'm reading something about DID that I can strongly relate to (which usually doesn't have a trigger warning ). That somehow causes stress/excitement (?) inside.
Dx: PDD-NOS. Tested for dissociative disorders and PTSD but they say the symptoms are attributable to PDD-NOS.

I'm not sure exactly what brought on this apology, I guess I missed something while I wasn't around yesterday? I love hearing from all of you, though. Everyone seems very knowledgeable about DID, and everyone is great at explaining it all very clearly and throughly. You all seem to always know what kind of answer I'm looking for, even though most times I have a very difficult time verbalizing it. Your advice is always welcome and appreciated here!
