Also think if a BPD can work on empathy. They would be the most empathic people on the planet.

I've never had problems with empathy. I just imagine I'm in that person's situation (I have a VERY active imagination), and WHAM, I feel overwhelmed by emotion.

Leadership is DEFINITELY something I've always been good at and have noticed many other borderlines do well in leadership roles too; but usually only for the duration of one project at a time. Something we can see from inception to finale and take ownership of is usually fine - but a full-time job in leadership FOREVER sends fear deep into MY heart at the very least  Our natural "enthusiasm" may mean we'd choose to do many projects back-to-back but look at the burn-out rates of borderlines in the sales environment --> That's where I think we visibly split from the sociopaths; as they can just keep going whereas we have to stop to have a micro-drama every now and then

I always thought that MY ideal role [to make full use of my borderline features] would be to generate charitable project concepts (everything from fund-raisers to buildings and schools), then get the ball rolling to The Big Night or Gala Opening stage then appoint people to carry one while I go back to the drawing board. It's cyclical, novel, challenging, and rewarding. Everyone would think I was terribly resourseful and sucessful while leaving space to have my private micro-dramas in-between :D

As a bunch, we seem to DO passionate very well indeed, and given on-going nurturing and stability, it doesnt even have to be a flash-in-the-pan thing. :)

I just wanted to say, I found this through searching google, thinking there was nothing positive about my diagnosis. Dealing with being labelled for 3 years, and feeling like there was no good coming from it all. I would like to say that I didn't think we'd make very good leaders, because I get really low on myself when I start to lose sight of who I am, being unfamiliar all the time with who I really am. I also battle greatly with people getting me down, any form of rejection or dislike from people, it's the end of my world and I will sulk for days, deciding to hate that person for hating me but I will do anything for them to like me. Scares me to death thinking about putting myself in the way for attention in case someone didn't like it, and leadership is about putting yourself out there all the time.

I really have to disagree with most of this post.

2. INDIVIDUALISTIC: Fight for Individualism, against any conformity.
One of the hallmarks of BPD is a lack of self-identity, so I don't even think we're near being individualists if
we don't know who we are. Most of us even mirror the people we are in situations with. Yes we fight against
conformity, but not any harder than other self-aware people.

6. LEADERS: Due to the splitting nature of relationships and lack of empathy, we make great leaders.
I'm not quite sure how this combination would even make a great leader but even so, these are definitely not traits
of BPD. We are quite empathetic to the feelings of others. You may be mistaking empathy for an ability to relate.
Yes we have a hard time understanding why others react to certain circumstances, but that doesn't leave us unable
to understand the resulting emotion. We most certainly have empathy and the belief that we don't is actually a very
common myth. We may be able to play the role of the leader, because we are good at portrayal, but all that
essentially makes us is oscar worthy; not genuinely possessing leadership qualities.

7. CONVICTION: Again, since when did being unable to trust one's feelings and lacking a strong self-identity give strong
conviction? More like, extreme indecisiveness, doubt and impulsiveness.
