I have narcolepsy and sleep apnea. double whammy... I have been on almost every stimulant out there... Im running out of options... I dont understand why I am so immune and tolerant to everything... Currently im taking 140mg thats 2 70mg doses of vyvanse, which i just read isnt good for excessive day time sleepiness... im sleeping about 20 to 22 hrs a day... i was taking 3 doses of 25 mg Adderall xr which did absolutely nothing for me... before that i was taking 3 25mg doses of Focalin XR still slept all day, ive taken over the max dose of Concerta as well, i also have taken Ritalin SR, and Methylin ER. Ive tried Vyvanse in the morning with regular Adderall in the afternoon/evening, Ive tried both 400mg of Provigil and Nuvigil with no luck... I even came off stimulants for 3 months and went back on them and still nothing... No matter how little or how much i take i cant stay awake... its affecting my whole life... My fiance thinks im lazy and doesnt wanna marry me till im more "wife-like", i cant spend time with my fiance out at the parties he djs at cause i cant stay awake, i usually cant drive anywhere, i cant work and were horrible broke, im on disability for many medical reasons, sometimes i cant shower for 2 days maybe 3 cause im sleeping constantly waking only to go to the bathroom and down a slimfast so i dont die, im supposed to drink a gallon of water a day because i only have 1 kidney and some days drink no water at all, i get sad cause im too sleepy to spend time with my dogs, i miss doctor appts. i feel like a waste... if i try and get up and move around im just like ugh i dont wanna i need to rest my eyes for a sec, then im out for like 4 hours... my family yells at me for sleeping too much... im so miserable...

i did some research tonight, and it says people with severe narcolepsy sometimes need 2 stimulants fast acting and long lasting... ive never heard of it, but ive seen alot of good reviews about Desoxyn and Dexedrine. Now im just a lil worried about the Desoxyn being a methamphetamine... Ive never done meth, never plan on it, had a good friend die from it, so im a lil scared of it, so i know i def wouldnt abuse it... i guess its short acting... and i heard good reviews about the Dexedrine as well, which i think is long lasting... They say the Desoxyn is very addictive and has the worst withdraws out of any drug but i dont know if thats if you abuse it or if you still have really bad withdraws if you take it like you should, cause i def dont want that... theres something else they said Xyrem but thats GHB, last i knew GHB was the date rape drug back in the day... They say Xyrem is used for people resistant to stimulants but i dont see how that would keep me awake... and serious side effects include bedwetting, sleepwalking, coma, and death sounds sketchy... those are about my only options left... i hate the methylphenidate family...

Hey, I just responded to your narcolepsy forum post and I just read this blog. Xyrem is taken at night. I don't know the exact process but from what I understand it's supposed to force sleep stages. I've read that people with a history of suicide or depression shouldn't take it and doctors can be real jerks about stuff like that, so I've never asked any professionals about taking it. It might be something to talk to about with a neurologist or even a psychiatrist though.
