(hi fellow avoidants - I'm new here)

I can´t belive I forgot this character in one of my favourite films "Amelie". The Amelie artist neighbour seems to be an avoidant. yeah.

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind- Jim Carrey's character in that movie is as close to an avoidant main character iv'e ever seen in a movie. It is one of my favourite movies and i'd suggest anyone who hasn't seen it check it out (Kate Winslet is very attractive in the movie as well, for added bonus!)

Woody Allen's "Zelig" has a great example of an voidant, it's a fake documentary about a "chameleon man" living in the 20's. It's really funny and sad at the same time. Leonard Zelig's avoidance strategy is pretty epic though!

Bud Bundy in Married With Children always seemed avoidant to me.

Although he does interact with the other characters a lot, I can see that. There's probably a big, dark contrast between his character in (forced?) interaction and alone in his room that they don't want to show - and not just because of the blow-up doll!

Sorry to bump an old topic and have 2 threads about movies going at the same time, but I saw this in the 'Related Articles' and I had to respond.

Max the cabdriver in Collateral (2004) is exactly like me in pretty much every way. First, he's chosen a job that's not challenging at all and nothing is expected of him, but at the same time he goes above and beyond the expectations of his job. He talks about long term goals but since those require risks he never actually goes and does them, which is why he's been driving a cab for 12 years. Second, a girl goes out of her way to give him her number. Clearly she likes him and he likes her and yet we still get the impression that he never would have called her. When someone tries to talk about him he changes the subject. He works the night shift which gives him a good excuse to have no social life.

Jamie Foxx was nominated for best supporting actor and lost.

His occupation choice especially speaks to me. I hate challenging work. I hate doing things wrong. When I look for a job I actively try to find something that I know I'd be good at on the first day. And even though nothing is expected out of me, I still actively try to do the very best that I can.
