I get the odd questions like that. Makes glad I'm invisible.

To the last person who thought pointing out that I'm quiet would be a good way to start a conversation, I asked her the same question you are now, and said "what do you expect me to say to that" to which I got no reply. I think that by the time someone asked you that you're already labeled as a weirdo so there isn't much of a chance of making a positive impression with any sort of reply. I've just got sick of hearing it so I just answer with hostility to end the conversation and save me any embarrassment.

At least if they are asking it shows they probably want to "draw you out" because they think you'll have more fun if you aren't as quiet. as ignorant as that may be, from their perspective, they're trying to help.

Wow, asked if you were abused... who would ask such a thing? Now that's just nosy.

There is a guy on a wheelchair at my job and I cannot stop smiling whenever I see him now.

There are a few very sociable women at my job, and while they never asked me that question, they do refer to me a lot to the 3rd person. Like "Ah, he is yawning, he must be tired." without ever talking to me directly.

I don't know what I would answer, but I wouldn't feel cornered at all. I'd think they are nosy and I might be irritated... Maybe I would answer something really obscure or creepy, like "I prefer to converse with the voices in my head.". Not sure I'd do it, but it's the kind of thing I'd feel like answering.
Or maybe "Ah, I am quite talkative. I just can't keep myself from butting in intelligent conversations. Ah... maybe that's why?"

Yeah, only do that if you feel inspired by Oscar Wilde and become witty, witty, very witty.

"Some cause happiness wherever they go; others whenever they go."
"I am but too conscious of the fact that we are born in an age when only the dull are treated seriously."
"Relations are simply a tedious pack of people, who haven’t got the remotest knowledge of how to live, nor the smallest instinct about when to die."

Love those qoutes, especially the first one. This Oscar Wilde person sounds quite witty indeed.

Funny how we keep running into each other in all the threads.

I tend to have burts of activity on forums. And also I just started coming on the AvPD forum, probably out of nostalgy of my AvPD friend I had about 7-8 years ago. Before I was only going on the SPD forum. I am often quite fascinated how AvPD and SPD are so similar yet so different at the same time.
