It took me a long time to learn, but I did learn at one time that the polite and proper response to a compliment is a simple "thank you", and maybe a smile, then shut up. Telling the complimenter why they are wrong is like throwing a nice gift back in their face.

If you are anxious you are living in the future.
If you are at peace you are living in the present.”

Same here Sky. Always thank people for compliments. Generally because it shuts them up :)

I was thinking though that I don't give many compliments either. Possibly because they make me uncomfortable. I do give praise, at work. But rarely will I ever compliment you on your outfit. Unless someone is showing something off of course, then I will say the appropriate things.

So those who don't like compliments do you give them, to others? Your family/friends of course, but generally. Just curious if it worked both ways?

I usually give compliments if I really feel that someone achieved something I find spectacular or they wear clothes which I think are really pretty. I don't go complimenting people when I don't feel like this. I don't care if people like me, so I will not kiss their behinds. I noticed that some people who compliment others excessively can get benefits for that. I think this is unfair treatment. These people appear to me double faced and ingenuine, because they say things to get something they want and not because they really think the object or the subject of a compliment is praiseworthy.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with having different views and opinions. Everyone is welcome to express what they think and we're not always going to agree. But can we please try not to make this personal.
