Hi.
Can Bipolar Disorder be comorbid with DID?
If an alter is maniac and it switches to an alter who is depressed, could that be diagnosed as Bipolar Disorder?
I think this is a silly and stupid question but I'm so tired right now.

Knowledge: Usually people with DID get misdiagnosed by Bipolar. So yeah, but that doesn't means that guy (or girl) has Bipolar. He (or she) get misdiagnosed.

I agree with misdiagnosis. Also, with bipolar disorder, the moods tend to last for weeks or months at a time. If this is a switch with alts, it isn't bipolar. Also, rapid cycling of moods is cyclothymia. But again, if the moods are alt dependent...it's just another quirk of DID.

Well I'm unoficially diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder and Cyclothymia. Theoretically, those diagnosis only apply to me or to all the alters?

Yes and yes. It does happen. However, more often the BPD diagnosis is an error, a misdiagnosis. If the cycling affect is merely cyclic switching between alters, it is a misdiagnosis not a dual diagnosis. One common clue to misdiagnosis is that a trial of medication for BPD does not help. Another is that treatment for DID rapidly cures the "bi-polar" symptoms.

Is there any farmacologic treatment for DID?
I thought it was only therapy

I've heard of people using antipsychotics, antidepressants, or antianxiety meds, but that's more for the comorbities. I believe DID itself is primarily cognitive-behavioral therapy based.

In my view Bi-polar and DID go hand in hand.
I believe I suffer from Rapid cycling Bi-polar. It' has nothing to do with my switches its violents mood states that are very 'fun' (sarcasm) the rapid cycling doesn' affect everyone in here Barry doesn't but a few others get caught up in it. My states can last for 3 days to months. Most of the time I'm battling depression with these states but they have a very different feel to them from. if you could ever call it the normal depression the whole system feels. I'm the main alter that copes and deals with Bi-polar in the system besides for Grace.

I guess that if Bipolar affects almost all the alters then it's "biological" (misspelled I guess) Bipolar, and some alters can be "immune" for some reason? And if it only affects one or a few alters, it's "psychological" (somatoform or even factitious?)?
Ugh confusing.

Ok now i am really confused, but at least now i know i am not only bipolar, i can't express my self to a doctor. Because i can't see the situation as a whole. I always see just part of the truth. Even now i don't know this is right or not

( what should i do now
