According to some circles, calling out bigotry is apparently just as insensitive as the bigotry itself.
For instance, some Christians are letting loose their bigotry on DeviantArt and I've been thinking about actually taking a stand. But then I though "Why should I be responsible for their arrogance?"
However, that is not exactly the point, even thought one is correct in saying that it's their problem and not mine.
Their are three certain examples of bigotry that got to me.
One was the out and open raver who couldn't go one millisecond without calling out a "sinnah" and demanding that everyone repent. She made an entire list of everything that she despised from me for who I am because I occasionally question my sexuality, abortion, atheists, Muslims, yaddy yadda. What surprised me the most was that she also included Catholics, porn, and Harry Potter of all things. Christians hating Catholics was something that was completely new to me as I was formerly raised so and I didn't know what in the hell could make a person hate a book besides Twilight or erotic media so much that they couldn't just move on.
I couldn't take anymore, so I decided to report her for abuse.
The next two, however, have both almost sent me into a rage.
First, I just want to say that I have a certain image in mind for a potential male mate, if I can either find or am open to one.
To sum up these two, they have both said that they cannot support who I am and that even though they were both aware that I'm going my own way, their's is the only right way. They also had the balls to call their bigotry "unpopular opinions," but suddenly turned around and said that "brotherly love" transcends that. The ignorance was absolutely astounding.
1. Screw you! I never asked for your approval nor is it required, because it's not about that!
2. You don't get to have your say in how I and others like live our individual lives and who we share it with! We're not a part of your little congregation, so get lost!
3. Oh, just get a life! Having what you call an "unpopular opinion" or a popular one doesn't make you special in the slightest just as who I am doesn't define me! Instead of making it all about popularity, why don't not just you, but every lot that invokes this cliche' just get a freakin' life! It's not about you, jackass!
4. You arrogant, self-centered, bastards! You would not know what love is if it came up and performed a Mortal Kombat style finishing move on you!
I'll admit that I have made my own contributions on the topic of "unpopular opinions," mostly its irony, but it's never been about that.
It's about living your life the way you want to.
