My 17 year old daughter has told me that my 19 year old daughter is playing around with choking while having sex with her boyfriend. We have had trouble in the past with my oldest and I believe she has issues stemming from an abusive relationship in her past. I want to ask her about this but I fear if I do she will turn her back on the family and have no contact with us. What should I do about this. Any advice is welcome.

Choking can be done safely or dangerously. If its being done safely then nothing to worry about.
You could sit down with her and make sure she knows the safe way. Or you could probably even casually work it into a conversation if you don't want to admit the other daughter told you.
Like watch a movie together or something with someone being choked out and say...
Did you know when you choke someone you squeeze on the sides of their neck, not on the front of the throat? It will still cause someone to choke but its much safer that way. You can kill someone if they squeeze the front too hard.
I know it might be frightening to think of your daughter participating in this kind of activity but at 19 she is an adult, and if she enjoys it, and does it safely, you shouldn't think of it as abuse.
