Aripiprazole is the best treatment for schizophrenia ?

Postby luis » Sun Aug 07, 2005 9:01 pm

Hi all,

I have been told that many schizophrenic patients are being given currently aripiprazole (abilify) since it's supposed to be a revolution in the war against schizophrenia.

I personally have schizophrenia and I have been taking Abilify already for three months (the maximum dose) and in the beginning it worked fine because the voices that I heard went away but after a month they came back. I stopped taking it for some weeks but now i am taking it again and it works because I am busy most of the day being a volunteer in an institution for mentally ill people and people with street drug problems. So far the hallucinations haven't come back again (i keep the fingers crossed :-) )

Can anyone else explain his or her own experience with Abilify ?

Regards,
Luis

Your dam right there is a war on people they label schizophrenic, but it is no illness or disease. Its just thoughts feelings and behavior some people deem unexceptable and wish to oppress.

Most so called mental illness were created by commitees in the very early 1900. The so called disorders we see in the DSM IV were put there by vote by a pack of quacks.

There is no proof schizophrenia is an illness!!!!

In my opinion you should only be on these (all anti-psychotics) for only a short period of time to allow yourself to recover from what caused the symptoms to surface. Using them long term changes your brain chemistry and then you have to try other meds to get the same result. Please read Dr. Peter Breggin's book - Your Drug may be your problem. He gives good advice on getting off these powerful meds that don't cure anything - they just blunt the symptoms.

Why don't you also consider takinig Omega 3 fatty acid suplement which you can find in health food stores as well as vitamin B3 - niacin. Symptoms have diminished for some schizophrenics taking these supplements just as good as any antipsychotic. However, the drug rep will not tell your doctor that little fact. Your doctor is probably very dependent on that drug rep to tell him what to prescribe. Am I cynical? You bet I am after what we've been through.

One study showed there is much less incidence of schizophrenia iin Japan than New Zealand. The reason the study concluded was the higher intake of fish with its high amounts of Omega 3 versus New Zealand where they eat more land animals. Cattle fed corn to fatten them up are high in Omega 6 but low in Omega 3. Omega 3 is essential for cell membrane health among other things.

Try to find grass fed beef if you can which is higher in Omega 3 or learn to like sardines or take fish oil tablets. Good luck and do a lot of research - the only person you can really depend on is yourself to find the right answer.

well i agree with "Guest" the mentally ill under the western system or treated like prisoners who the mental health system never really wants to free just tame... it's really #######4... but so is coorprate america and all the other countries that have money and decide to follow. "We don't want to find a cure", they say behind closed doors... much like "We don't want to develope cars that don't require gas". In case your just catching on right now, even an idiot should be able to see the scam...

In fact we shouldn't be blaming the psychaitrist, psychologists or the lower mental health helpers. Their trying to do the best they can.. unfortunetly their brain-washed to believe what their doing is proper, right, and the only affective treatment for that type of mental illness... which ever it may be... heck put me into med school for 8 years and I'll be praising western medicine just like the rest....
