Paranoia vs. hypervigilance, whats the difference? I'm just asking because my dose of seroquel was increased to 600mg. Used to be 200mg but my pdoc wants to see whether or not this increase will help the psychosis. Ever since I reached to 500mg I have been getting very anxious and have a rapid heart beat. I get scared and start paying attention to my surroundings. I start to think that things around the room are moving but its hard to tell.

hypervigilance is something that most people who suffer from PTSD deal with (i've dealt with it) it means:
Hypervigilance is an enhanced state of sensory sensitivity accompanied by an exaggerated intensity of behaviors whose purpose is to detect threats ...
One of the symptoms of PTSD. In this state an individual is overly sensitive to sounds and sights in the environment, scans the environment expecting danger, and feels keyed up and on edge. ...
a fearful, enhanced awareness of one’s surroundings, often a symptom of post-traumatic stress disorder, or generalized anxiety disorder.
Paranoia is:
Paranoia is an exaggerated distrust of others that is not based on fact.
As a psychotic feature of bipolar disorder, schizo-affective disorder or schizophrenia, paranoia may manifest as delusions of persecution.

Thanks for the info. Can seroquel cause hypervigilance as a side effect? I do suffer from PTSD but have never become hypervigilant from it.
