i went to brush my teeth and when i reached for my (pink) toothbrush i heard a voice in my head say “nice toothbrush, f*ggot” ???? like damn. and when i was done and looked in the mirror i heard “what you gonna cry, asshole”

this is new lol. not sure if i should... do something about it?

There Are a few questions to ask before you do something about it.

1. Did you get enough sleep or were you sleep deprived? Lack of sleep can cause hearing voices.

2. Are you under any sort of stress or having any anxiety issues? That too can cause this.

3. Is this the first time it happened? I assume so, as you said it was something new. It could easily he a one time thing, but if it continues, I'd consider seeking medical attention.

sorry should have been a bit more clear haha- it’s new for me to hear such negativity so clearly and directed at me. but it’s not new to hear voices in general. i don’t hear them a lot but i have intermittent moments where i do.

i have been pretty stressed at work lately and tbh i am always a bit sleep deprived. it’s an ongoing issue (sleeping in general)

This is something that I, too, have experienced on numerous occasions. Audible hallucinations that are self-derogatory in nature.

If you have a therapist you should mention it. If you don't have one, you might consider getting one, if your insurance allows. I'd definitely recommend saying something about it to your prescribing doctor.

Don't take the voices to heart whatever you do, with regard to such things.

I, personally, just learned to ignore it after awhile.

Both stress and lack of sleep can exacerbate such things.

I am by no means a licensed professional, but have lived with voices, on and off, for over 20 years, so do have some experience with this type of thing.
