Would this be a delusion or hallucination?

Postby WhatsMyDxAgain » Thu Nov 23, 2017 4:09 pm

I've long suspected that I may have a mild form of schizophrenia. I think it started in my 20's but I've always avoided doctors (paranoia, needle phobia, avoidance of people), so I have little medical history to evaluate. But I experience what I believe are hallucinations. I'm always hearing noises that nobody else hears and I also frequently feel like there are ants crawling on me.

All that aside, I experienced something the other day that really freaked me out. I woke up from a nap and while I was still lying there (literally just woke up), I felt like I was in a car. I could feel the sway back and forth as the car went around curves. I texted my son who, so far as I knew was at a friend's house watching a movie, and I asked him if he was driving. He answered back that he was. I told him I could feel it. It freaked him out cuz I perfectly described the curve sequence he had gone through 30 seconds earlier.

So, was this a hallucination? Or a delusion? Or am I really telepathic? I'm diagnosed bipolar which supposedly has similar genetic factors as schizophrenia and can be cross-diagnosed, so who knows what's really going on.

Hello,

This does sound odd. I've actually never heard of this, except in a movie. I'm not saying that it didn't happen, but that sounds like it could be a weird coincidence. Kind of like when people dream about seeing their loved ones, and then they wake up to find out that they died either during or right before they went to sleep.

As for the noises, what kind of noises? Ringing noises? An alarm going off? Someone talking? How loud are they? How frequent? Is it a consistent noise, or are they all different? These are things a doctor would ask you, and though no one on here is a doctor, this may help us understand what you're going through. I hear noises inside of noises, if that makes any sense. I was listening to some classical music (Mozart's 4th violin concerto, to be exact), and I just started to hear my cat scream and yelp and meow as loud as possible, as if she was in horrible pain, but then I go into the next room, and she's asleep. I wake her up, and she's fine.

Yeah, the first thing was probably just a coincidence.

Re the noises: it's always a different sound, just things I seem to hear that nobody else hears. Could be a tapping, clicking, thumping, a bird chirping, a squeaking, etc. Just random sounds. I'm pretty sure I don't have superpower hearing. It happens a lot. Makes me wonder if I'm imagining/hallucinating it.
