Hi guys
I was referred to a specialist by my GP and for about a year went to see 2 different people and a doctor who after a few months prescribed me with medication which i was told would help with my concentration, i took it for a month then had the dose increased and took that for about a week before stopping taking it. i used to talk to the doctor by text as well but havent spoken to them for nearly a year now by text or face to face and havent had a prescription renewed in almost the same amount of time.
it wasnt until i went to my GP to get a medical form signed off that they refused based on the specialist diagnosing me with schizophrenia and adding a note that if i wasnt to take medication i should be hospitalised... he never said anything about that to me though and hasnt attempted to contact me in at least 10 months.
i dont really know what to make of all this so just wanted to hear other peoples opinions

I'm not entirely sure what kind of advice you're looking for but how have you felt without meds? About the same I'm guessing...

I think opinion would have been a better title than advice really, the meds I was given didn't seem to change anything and I still have my moments so to speak. It's more the fact that they didn't discuss it with me or follow up on how the meds were going/if I was still taking them.
Im just not sure what to do as I've now got that diagnosis on my medical history but have been left by the way side since

It could be a more complex medical problem than something that meds can solve. For example, there is lots of evidence and research that suggests that some mental illnesses, including schizophrenia, depression, anxiety and ADHD can be controlled with proper diet. There are a couple of different reasons why it happens but in one example, someone with leaky gut syndrome breaks down casein/gluten improperly causing them to become addictive, morphine-like substances that cause symptoms of withdraw when you haven't had something containing milk or wheat/barley/rye. Side effects of withdrawal can include depression, anxiety and inability to concentrate. There is additional evidence to suggest that schizophrenics can benefit from gluten-free diets based on a book I just read. Look it up. I just found a link where half a century ago they were calling schizophrenia "bread-madness" because peoples conditions cleared up after gluten was removed from their diets.
I myself have reaped the benefits of a gluten-free/casein-free vegan diet.
Pray, too.
