The end result is the same though, no?

I just got banned from another forum I had been posting on since January. I couldn't take the tedium. Threads about what day you do your laundry. So much pearl clutching over manipulated media stories that have no bearing on anybody's day to day life.

Having a typhoon in your brain allows you to skip sweating the small stuff. It prevents you from settling into the niche that the world has carved out for you. This is a good way to bypass your conditioning and to freelance your identity. If that identity ends up taking the form of someone who eats their own poo and smashes vending machines because they are trying to control their minds, I'll take that over someone who is genuinely concerned over what celebrity showed up at which fund raiser in that terrible, awful dress.

Yes. We're lucky in our unluckiness. Having to prioritize 'gripping the armrests' can help to keep us from getting sucked into the bs.

For several decades, media conglomerates have invested billions of dollars in fabricating lies which are as unresolvable as impossible objects ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Impossible_object ). These, along with bright, shining celebrity irrelevancies, are designed to keep the masses distracted, angry, and divided. Real information of vital everyday concern, such as net neutrality and the enduring availability of clean drinking water, exists but one must actively seek it, evaluate it, and verify it.

Many people are lazy, still more are tired, so tired that their creative energy has, in some cases, degenerated into mindless chatter about laundry days. They are too tired to remember to make time to look at their lives. If it's any consolation, I don't believe anyone involved in the 'laundry days' thread(s) would be proud of how they used their time.

One of the things I most deeply loathe is when, on a forum, someone shares something off-beat, and the 'forum elite' (what bs!) jump all over that person simply for having a different opinion. Sincerely held opinions which differ from the majority are vital to the health of any community.

Oblivion, I'm sorry you got banned from the other forum but, on the up side, it's one less source of stress. If the discussions weren't any good, maybe keep looking for a more interesting group.

Well put and worth re-posting.

I wanted to get banned. Despite the banality ("How Do You Like Your Eggs?"), I was spending too much time there. I got banned for being abusive, but they let me back, so I started to post in the relationship advice subforum about how the solution to everybody's problem was to kill themselves. Even that didn't stick. I had to threaten one of the admin's mother in a particularly unsavory manner in order to get booted off for good. The most popular forum (general topics) there was dominated by a bunch of Heathers who balked at a new user (me) jumping right in without being properly initiated. Most of them hated me. It was delicious.

These forums are much less active, but at least the people here are interesting. I've never felt completely comfortable with people who have a firm purchase on their rocker.

I hate the schizoid subreddit. I used to think being schizoid was really cool or something, a great defense mechanism and almost admirable. But the people there hate themselves and internalize the message that if you're different, there's something wrong with them. They think like losers. ###$ that.
