Can the Heart be Destroyed?

Postby michijo » Sat Dec 03, 2011 10:28 am

I have been thinking this morning: can the heart be destroyed or suppressed beyond ability to resurrect? I find I cannot feel any love toward other people, or only such a small amount that it is insignificant. People talk of having a broken heart, but what if it is beyond that, some new dimension, where the heart has been pummeled until it is rough and thick and barely responds to anything, like the heart of an animal, which cant afford to be soft?

Temporarily the heart can be supressed I guess... done that but when it somehow is "ressurected" the pain is horrible to bear...

Hmm...maybe that is why I start to get really angry sometimes or want to commit suicide. :|

Yes me too... It does feel painful especially if you had a bad experience... but at the same time a ressurected heart can bring some sort of new found hope or motivation especially if you are an optimist which I am not...

I suddenly remember a horror film by Wes Craven called Chiller, in which a man is put into cryogenic sleep for some years. When he wakes up, his eyes are black and he has no heart or empathy whatsoever. It is as if frozen out of him.

If you did that, you'd never know the answer to your question here. I don't know the answer myself, but I do know that no matter HOW utterly convinced you are that your ability to love is gone... There's always the chance.. or HOPE that you're conviction is wrong.. But hope of resurrecting a destroyed heart is only possible when that heart is still beating.

One of my favorite sayings on the subject is: "Suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem" It may sound trite.. but only because it's true.
