Further Help For My Friend

Postby thatright » Wed Aug 10, 2011 3:36 pm

Hi

I went to visit my friend and wow what a lot of good progress I have managed to succeed.

When I visited Jason, I heard him talking on the phone to his mum. His speech was very flat, hardly said a word but he went out to grab some food with his mum. When I spoke to his mum that evening, I had the very strong feeling that was she wasn't aware of Jason's isolation. She seemed she wanted to take a step back from him. Like his got his own life attitude. When she was talking to me on the phone, I could hear J in the background, blushing, being shy when she mentioned to him that i wanted to speak to him. she didn't seem keen for me and her to stay in contact when i asked to to keep an eye on his progress. i know jason has relasped three times in 4 years after being diagnosed with schizo-affective disorder and all through those 4 times it's been his dad there for him. with no sight of his mum.

The neighbour gave me a good insight on his health. and he said Jason hasn't been seen for two weeks. His curtains and windows are closed. Now the neighbour mentioned when he last saw Jason, his speech was very flat. He isolates himself away.

what concerns me is he is obviously isolating himself, the damage is the social anxiety. his not getting the right support he should be recieving. i have found last week wednesday when i visited him, he listened to me by the door. he isn't going to talk due to his anxiety. this was a similar problem that i was able to fix when i befriended him. That's how we became friends.

now if i make too much contact, i don't want to push him away further. i have found visiting him helped massively. i could just visit him once every two weeks and try talking to him by the door. the more i come the more hopefully we can beat this anxiety and isolation. i sincerely worry with the lack of support he is getting. he clearly needs help.

i know last week, his neighbour called the police and they almost broke in because they didn't hear or see jason around. i am clearly worried and concerned about his health. due to the lack of contact we have had, there isn't no trust there but i know it takes time and patience. the lack of support this guy is getting worrys me loads.

just wanted to know your input on the situation and what things i can do to help him?

Hi, thatright! Is he having therapy? Maybe there are support groups for him, or something special for people with his condition.
Where is his dad?
Yah, talking to him a bit sounds nice, but he might need more. Maybe his dad should talk to his doctor.
