An Update

Postby beckyc » Wed Feb 02, 2011 7:53 pm

Hey

Just thought I'd give a quick update on my recovery.

I am about to start two new voluntary places in mental health. The first role is Mental Health Support Worker and the second one is a Befriender in a cafe in a day centre.

Made some new friends and been going out more then I used too now. My medication has been reduced to taking one tablet every two days. I feel motivated and positive about myself. Now finally feel in control over my life.

As for Jason, still haven't heard from him. He hasn't changed his number. But I am still making contact like sending a letter once a month. I am going to keep the door open at all times.

Once new things start happening like when I start work, I'll update you all

That sounds great Bec, good on you. You'll love every minute of it, I'm sure.

As for Jason, hmmm....keep writing if you have to but NEVER sit and wait for him. My prediction is that he'll get way too used to your letters, which may possibly mean that the situation will reach an impasse. He may well take you for granted and think you'll be there rain, hail or shine. Whilst this is good in theory and carries great intentions, it also carries inbuilt abuse. By this I mean, a lack of value. Don't end up making the same mistake as me. Be really clear about what you want and put in place, the right actions needed to achieve what it is you want.

You enjoy your new found freedom and NEVER think that a new opportunity will stuff up your chances with Jason. Fact is, if Jason really wanted you - he'd come after you. Sure he may well have a condition that stops him from living his life normally - but that in itself is why you should NEVER put your life on hold. It's what I've done and in the end...there is no reward. While ever you keep writing means that Jason may well just take you for granted. You want someone who will value you and appreciate what you offer.

Good luck with it all xx

Very good to hear Becky. I was touched by your story, but just could not come up with anything productive to offer as guidance. Since I let that opportunity pass, to speak with you. I felt it necessary to let you know that there are more people supporting you than make it a point to reply. I didn't feel I had anything of value to offer since I could not post a positive message. However it is always good to know someone is listening. I just wished you to know that someone else is looking on and very happy that things are going well. You are a very wonderful person for doing the volunteer work. I hope you can see the good in yourself, just as others can.
Have a nice day.
