You are probably feeling very insecure about the relationship and about yourself. The fact of the matter is, you can live without him and you can have a happy life without him. If you put all you eggs in one basket and expect this relationship to make or break your life, then of course you are going to have anxiety about losing it.
One way to decrease the anxiety is to decrease the number of expectations you have. If you expect to be with him for the rest of your life, then you're going to be disappointed if it doesn't work out in the future. If you go into it with the attitude that the relationship is good, but not necessary for your happiness, then you will be able to really enjoy it more. Take away the expectations and let it be what it's going to be, you will get more enjoyment and fulfillment out of it.
