Understanding love languages and the importance

Postby jcl76 » Wed Jan 24, 2018 7:42 pm

I have been reflecting on love languages lately, and its something that I have never given much thought to while in a relationship. My last relationship we had different ones while some of the same. For instance I love quality time and affection (touch and being close). I realized with what I wanted it what I was projecting, while she like words of affirmation and reminders on verbally that I still loved her. Although deep down I knew this but it didnt resonate deep down. I hardly remember a time when I was told "I love you" when I was younger. I never heard my grandfather tell my grandmother, but thet were married for 60 years and she knew he did and they had a amazing marriage.

It totally seems like in todays world it almost critical to the success if not the most important thing in a relationship or marriage.

This may be a good discussion. If there are different love language then how tough is it to adapt and concsiously keep that in mind?

Interesting topic. Made me realize I often feel but rarely use the infamous "I love you" in a sentence. I really just prefer leaving small marks of affection through thoughtful acts rather than use the actual words. The more I love someone, the less likely I'm to reach for those words, I think. It might be partially because I believe some things are beyond words and once verbalized tend to lose its strength. I also use written form or escape into different languages when having to discuss love with the object of mentioned love. Or I might just be disordered here and afraid of my own feelings, one can never be sure.
