My partner has a difficult time showing affection and love

I am at my wits end. My partner is a healthy 48 yr old man and I do know that he loves me but he can't seem to show it in little gestures like a touch or cuddle or even a kiss or holding my hand. Everything else in our relationship is great. We are both divorced.I come from a very happy normal family background whereas he had a very difficult childhood with an abusive father and a mother who didn't outwardly show a lot of affection to her children. I love him dearly but don't want to live the rest of my life in an almost platonic relationship. Any advice appreciated. Thanks.

he oviously still has issues with his family and probably found that when he gave affection to them he didnt get it back, he has also been devorced so that wont help but then so have you. get him to talk to you about why he doesnt and ask him to make and effort. if he knows how happy this will make you im sure he will try his best to show affection for you! please try and talk to him, it wont get any better until he knows about it! good luck!
