Hi, In my area I've seen hospitals (I think) advertising groups for new moms to help bond with their babies. Whether you find a group so well suited or not, call an OB or therapist who deals with family issues and ask for referrals. Even 211, the number for social services could probably link you up with helpful sources.
My mother gave up custody of me near the time of my birth. I've met her, but we have absolutely no bond.
Would like to see that you have enough support to be able to care for your child well. No, you're not horrible mother! You're concerned about what is happening to your baby and seeking help. That's a maternal instinct right there. For help bonding, keep reaching out. Actually, seems quite normal to be worried that you're being a horrible mother. But yeah, better bonding is definitely possible with some assistance.
(I'm new to the forums, by the way)
